I love spending time with my family. We enjoy going to the mountains and being outdoors, camping, hunting, riding ATVs.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It wasn't until I was on my own and went away to college that I realized that I was a member because I wanted to be and went to church because I loved the feelings I feel when I study the scriptures and learn of Christ. As a child, I attended church regularly and was an active member, but it wasn't until college that I found my own testimony and found out for myself that the gospel was true and that I found happiness in living the gospel plan.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be kind to others that I come in contact with. I study the scriptures and love the feeling I have in my life and in our home when we read the scriptures and learn about Christ and how we can become more like him by following His example.
I a serve others by teaching the women in our church on Sunday and I also help out in the nursery with the small children so that parents can enjoy their lessons knowing that their children are taken care of.
Another lady and I visit five other ladies in our congregation each month teaching a short lesson in their home and seeing if they need any help. I have really come to love these ladies and look forward to our visits each month.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Worthy men hold the priesthood which is the power of God. The priesthood is used to bless the lives of others through service. I have had many opportunities to serve in leadership positions as a woman in the church. I have served as the leader of the young women ages 12-18, being over their Sunday instructions and weekly activities. I have served as the leader of women ages 18 and up also overseeing the Sunday lessons, the activities and the welfare of each of the women in our congregation. I have learned the importance of working together with those that hold to priesthood to help all to come unto Christ and lift and serve each other. I have been blessed by serving in these leadership positions and have learned many skills and have loved seeing lives change through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Women don't hold the priesthood in the church, as this is a teaching that has come from Jesus Christ. However, women have such a significant role to play in the church that personally I have never felt that this is an issue I am concerned with or even think about. My husband and I are equal partners in our family, and the church has such respect and reverence for women and their role in the world. Women in the church also belong to what is called the 'Relief Society' it is one of the largest women's organisation in the world, and fills me with such a desire to serve and do good that when we meet together wherever I am in the world I feel so proud to be apart of it.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No, Mormons or members of The Church of Jesus Christ do not practice polygamy. The church has nothing whatsoever to do with the practice of polygamy. People who practice polygamy are not Mormons or members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. If any members of the church are found practicing plural marriage, they are excommunicated, which is the most serious penalty the Church can impose. Not only are those involved in direct violation of the civil law, they are in violation of the law of this Church.
