Deborah: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Deborah

I live in the beautiful Spokane Valley in Washington State. I'm a wife and a mother of four fantastic children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Aside from caring for my home and family, I enjoy working on genealogy, studying American history and reading historical fiction. I enjoy traveling and hearing stories about people in other parts of the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints almost my whole life. I am grateful to the missionaries who baptized my parents when I was a small child.

I love knowing Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me and know me personally. I am grateful for the covenants I have made to follow the Savior. Covenants make me who I am and keep me connected to God every day.

I am daily thankful to my Father in Heaven for the blessings the restored gospel has brought into my life, especially the peace and love it brings to our family. What a joy it is to witness to my children how I know the Lord loves them individually, and will always be their greatest source of peace! Because the world can be noisy and chaotic at times, I'm grateful we can pray together as a family and study the words of the scriptures at home. We live with a sense of peace and joy because we know God's plan for us.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

We do family history work so we can be linked to all the family of the earth. We learn to love both our ancestors and our descendants as we serve them, learn about them, and help them have the opportunity to make covenants with God.

I have experienced remarkable moments gathering the history of my own and my husband's family. I have grown to love people in ways I never thought possible.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the women's organizations at church. The women and young women in our ward have strong personalities and are very supportive of each other. We are true friends and call each other "sisters." Our ward is a loving place where we comfort each other and lift others in our community together. We are not perfect people, but we are trying to work hard and care for each other all the time. Even though we make mistakes, we know we are doing God's work together. We do our best to strengthen each other no matter what our unique circumstances and talents are. The women in our ward are amazing!

I really enjoy singing and music in our ward. We are blessed to have very talented musicians who use their talents to help us worship together each time we meet. The hymns and other songs we sing in our ward strengthen my resolve to do what is right, feel peace and happiness, and lift others around me. Even though I am not particularly skilled in this area, I love music at church.

I enjoy attending sessions in the temple near our home. Inside the temple, I feel very close to my Father in Heaven and my Savior. Everything we do in the temple reminds me of Jesus Christ and His perfect love for us. I leave the temple with a sure knowledge God loves me and watches over me hourly. We call the temple "The House of the Lord." I love to be there.
