Hi, I'm Bree Madsen
I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. I love to play volleyball and I am a Mormon!
About Me
I am currently serving in the California Carlsbad Mission. I love to play the piano, sing, play any sport and have a fun time. I come from a big family, 5 brothers and 2 sisters, I am the youngest. 7 out of 8 kids will have served missions by the time by brother comes home from his mission! After my mission I will go back to school to become an elementry school teacher.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the happiness it brings to my life. Before I came on my mission I was in relief society and one of the ladies challenged everyone to read the Book of Mormon in 3 months. I have never read the Book of Momron all the way through so I decided to take the challenge. When I finished, I took Moroni's promise (Moroni 10:3-5) and asked God if the book was true. About a week later I was in a devotional that was all about the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith. I will never forget the feelings that I felt that night. I was so overcome with joy that I began to cry and I knew right then and there that the Book of Mormon is true and that the Prophet Joseph Smith did restore Christ church once again upon the earth today! I know that we are led by a living Prophet today named, Thomas S. Monson, who gives us guidance and direction.
Personal Stories
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
When I was really young my family was getting ready to go to my Grandma's house. I was running around like crazy trying to find my shoes. I found one but I couldn't find the other one. I was getting really mad at my family because they were not helping me. My mom finally told me that my family was all waiting on me and if I wasn't in the car in 5 minutes they were leaving without me. I decided I would say a little prayer to help me find my shoe. I went into my garage said a quick little prayer then ran around the house like a chicken with it's head cut off frantically looking for my shoe. I got this feeling inside that I needed to look in the garage. I said no I already looked in the garage. After looking for a little bit longer the impression again came to look in the garage. I decided I would listen and I went in the garage and picked up a bag and there was my shoe! I ran outside to the car so excited that I had my shoe. My mom asked me how I found it and I told her I had said a little prayer. She asked me if I said a prayer to thank my Heavenly Father for helping me I had not so we said a little prayer.
I will never forget that experience. It showed me that my Father in Heaven really does care about me and answers my prayers even if it is just to help me find my shoe. Prayer is a huge role in my life I'm thankful to know I can communicate with Heavenly Father and that he hears and answers every one of my prayers.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone around me. Being a missionary is one of the best things that I've done so far. I love teaching people about Heavenly Fathers plan for us, who we are, why we are here, and where we are going. The best part about being a missionary is sharing my testimony to others and seeing how the Gospel changes their lives. I love seeing them experience the joy and happiness that I feel as they learn about the Book of Momron and the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
