Hi I'm Shaylene Johnson
About Me
I'm a seventeen year old girl who lives in Arizona. I'm a desert child through and through. I live with my parents, and five brothers. Three of which have served a mission, and one is on his way out. I'm the only girl in my family. I grew up playing in the dirt, racing everywhere, throwing legos, and tearing the heads off barbie dolls. My family is the best! We absolutely love each other. I don't know what I'd do without them. My sophomore year I picked up a love for photography. I'm currently in advanced film photography and play with digital on my own. I like to think I'm good at it. It's something to pass the time, and to improve on. I love the idea of showing others the world through my eyes with my photos. I started singing when I was a little girl. I've been a part of two show choirs, and three or four regular choirs. I'm an alto. I harmonize everything! Singing isn't something I necessarily like to do in public, but when I get the chance to sing, I will.
Why I am a Mormon
I absolutely love and adore the Gospel. I'm a proud member of Christ's church. It brings me the greatest happiness. I've learned that through the atonement of Jesus Christ we can be made pure, and whole. I've learned how to rely on Christ through all trials and have received a witness of how much my Father in Heaven loves me. I know that this is the true church. I know that the Spirit dwells in each worthy members heart and helps us every day to be the best we can be. I know that Christ restored His gospel through Joseph Smith. I know that by reading the Book of Mormon you'll feel Heavenly Fathers love and by praying about it you'll receive your own testimony of the truthfulness it holds. I hope I can one day travel throughout the world and share the love that our Heavenly Father has for us. I love this Gospel. I know it's true, and I hope that someday you'll know it's true too.
How I live my faith
As a youth in the church I attend seminary every week day during school. There I get to learn of Christ by studying the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, Old Testament, and New Testament. I've made many great friends there and have built strong relationships with my classmates. Every Wednesday I also attend a youth get together. There we play games, eat food, laugh, and chat. It's a great opportunity to learn new things, and enjoy the company of good people my age. Every Sunday I attend Sacrament meeting where I get the opportunity to take the sacrament and remember Christ's sacrifice for me. I get to renew my covenants with Him as a member of his Gospel. I get to hear uplifting talks from other members of the ward and learn more about Christ. I do my best every day to stand as a witness of Christ. I'm a believer. I stand up for what I believe in because I'm not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I try my best every day to share this happiness with others.
