Hi, I'm Suzi
I'm a low key runner, a college graduate, a Certified Public Accountant, I don't have a crafty bone in my body, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm 34 years old (in 2011). I have been married for 15 years and have two boys - ages 2 and 1. I graduated from college with a degree in accounting and am a Certified Public Accountant. I have been running for exercise since I was a kid but feel no need to run long distances or spend more than an hour at the most. I am not crafty, actually I dislike most crafty things. Yep you'll never see me pull out a lace table cloth no matter what meeting it is. HA! I love traveling anywhere and I can never get enough time with friends.
Why I am a Mormon
I am Mormon because I saw the choices friends and family were making as I was growing up and it seemed pretty simple to me that Heavenly Father's plan is a plan of happiness and that Satan's plan is one of misery.
Personal Stories
Could you talk about your baptism?
I was born into the church and baptized at 8 years old but it was a rather exciting day because I was deathly afraid of going under the water. I had almost drowned at a very young age (something like 2 or 3 years old). I was scared to death of going underwater. I liked playing in water and swimming with my brothers as long as my head stayed above water. As my 8th birthday approached, there was never any question in my mind about getting baptized. I was excited to be baptized. I wanted to follow Heavenly Father's plan. I wanted to be a member of his church. I had faith that amazes even me now to think about. I knew I would go underwater this one time and it would be a great experience. My parents were very concerned. They took me to the pool and tried to get me to practice going under water but I would not do it. They arranged for my baptism to be in a friend's pool hoping that it would make it more comfortable not realizing just how comfortable and at peace I really was.
The day of my baptism came. I put on a white dress and went down the ladder into the pool. The water was deep and I had to walk on my tippy toes to keep my head above water. My father said the baptismal prayer and lowered me into the water. I plugged my nose and closed my eyes and went all the way under the water. I have a testimony that Heavenly Father blesses us when we choose the right. He truly blessed me to do something way outside of my comfort zone that day.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by being an example to others. My friends are more often not Mormons. I love what our 13th Article of fatih says that if there is anything virtuous. lovely, of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things. There is so much in this world that is virtuous, and lovely and of good report. I have spent most of my adult life teaching children in our church. I love the children's meetings in our church because I am such a kid at heart. I love the songs, the games, and most of all that the great truths of the gospel can be taught to anyone even a 3 year old, even me.
