Kathy: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Kathy

I am a mother and grandmother. I go to school online full time since becoming disabled. And I'm proud to be a Mormon!

About Me

I am a widowed mother of a beautiful daughter who gave me a wonderful 8 year old grandson. I worked in the banking business for 19 years before moving on to Home Depot. I loved that job and would still be there if it hadn't been for me contracting viral encephalitis in my central nervous system. It has really slowed me down but it has not stopped me. I am now a full time college student studing to be a Paralegal when I grow up. I also take care of my grandson while his mother works and goes to college full time as well. I also take care of my mom who has the old folks memory loss along with stage 4 emphasema. I also take care of our dog, cat, two bunnies and one fish. So being disabled just isn't an option with me.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member after telling the missionaries several times no. They didn't give up on me and I am glad. I was raised in the Church of Nazerene all my young life so it wasn't much of a change. We believe in the Bible, they believe in the Bible. There are just so many other reasons that I converted. I love the "Mormon" way to raise your family. They have such wonderful teachings to help the young to stand firm in our beliefs and do so with their heads up. We have so many wonderful support groups for any type of help you would need. The most understanding Bishops to give you guidence when it is needed. The biggest reason that I am a Mormon and stay a Mormon is due to the guidence from our living Prophet. Without him telling us just how we should be living ... I for one would be lost. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Since I have been a member I have been called to be the Single Adults where I helped organize the meetings and get togethers of the single members not only in our ward but the stake as well. We planned get together pot luck dinners with our families as well as without them. I have also taught the Sunbeam class (4-5 yr olds) on two different callings. That has to be the best calling ever. I always think I am teaching them when in fact they teach me more than I ever thought possible. I also try to help clean the church on our months but am unable to plan the help because I am never sure about how I will be feeling when get up with the virus in my brain.
