Mike: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Mike

I have been married for about 9 years. My amazing wife and I have been blessed with 3 healthy and adorable kids. I love my family!

About Me

I am Mike

I'm married to my favorite person, a beautiful woman that I am very fortunate to call my best friend. We knew each other in high school, she and I shared social circles but it was when we had a class together that we quickly bonded and developed a friendship to be the foundation for more. After I graduated and she a year later and once I had returned from a two year volunteer mission to serve and share the restored gospel with the people of Germany, did our paths cross again and since that evening that they crossed, we have never let them split. We've been a family for nearly 9 years. We have 3 amazing kids. All my life I've looked forward to being a father. Being a dad has brought me so much joy and purpose, I have been able to draw closer to my Heavenly Father as I learn to rely on Him to help my wife and I raise these kids in a way that they, as His children, deserve.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon, thanks to and for my family.

During high school my dad was introduced to the Mormon faith through friends. He wanted to learn more. As he learned more he chose to act upon the direction given him of the Holy Ghost to accept the restored gospel, he did so and was baptized at age 17. My mom was born into a family that had already found and accepted the Christ and his church, her parents come from long lines of faithful pioneering members. My parents taught my siblings and I where we are to turn for peace and comfort amid spiritual unrest and where we obtain forgiveness and the removal of the sting and pain of the inevitable wrong doings of our own and also those of others. Knowing about something and using that knowledge are entirely different matters. Even with my parents being practicing members, I knew that I too, just like they did, needed to learn for myself that Jesus is the Christ and that He as in times of old gives His council and direction to those who have authority to act in His name and lead His church. I always knew that this church does good things for its members and readily helps those locally and all over the world who are in need and find themselves in crisis, but still I had to gain my own account and witness of the truthfulness of the Church, it's book of Mormon, that it, along side the Bible, is another witness of our Savior Jesus Christ, & that Joseph Smith Jr. was a prophet of God. My confirming witness came when I was ready to apply the Book of Mormon's promise that I can ask God whether it be true or not. A sensation of warmth swelled inside by body, a joy and comfort followed that filled my soul as I prayed to my Heavenly Father, He shared at that time and continually shares with me that this, His church, is more than merely another christian religion or a faith based charitable service organization. It is the Lord's church, He has called, ordained and set apart prophets and apostles to be his mouthpiece today.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

The missionary efforts of the church are three fold; To share the gospel, strengthen our brethren (grow with and help other church members along the way) and to provide those that did not have opportunity to accept Christ during their life the chance to do so, by performing those ordinances like baptism and temple marriage for our family members that have passed on.

Aside from that, it's amazing to learn about where you and your family comes from, who made it possible for you to be alive, who made what sacrifices to ensure you and your ancestors got to where they were and are now. You can learn so much about yourself through getting to know your roots and ancestral family members. You'll find yourself being humbled and indebted to those that have gone before us.

How I live my faith

I believe that my faith and the application of my faith drive me in all that I do and say. I love the Lord and hope that those who I come in contact with can see that. I believe that I am child of God, which to me means that if I am, so is any and every other person to grace the face of the earth, and as His son I am to treat every person that I meet as the son or daughter of God that they are. Every one of us has the same value in the eye's of our Creator, He loves us so much that he sent His Son. I like to think that if everyone understood and did what that knowledge required then most if not all the worlds issues could be resolved if we, the individual and collective treated our neighbor fairly and with the respect owed as children of God.

I try to live my faith in how I work. My day job duties as a satellite installation technician take me into a wide variety of homes, yet I try to treat each customer's residence like their home was my own. I assist them in the very same manner that I would hope to receive if our roles were reversed. I enjoy interacting and getting to know my customer on some albeit small personal level.

My wife and I teach a Sunday school class for the youth in our church area. We strive to help them understand aspects of the gospel, to transition understanding to the application of faith. We hope to convey the love and direction that the Lord would have us share. We drive home the importance of integrity, standing up for their beliefs, to join the fellowship of the unashamed. These 16-17 year old young men and women, with whom we get to learn with and from are truly amazing. The are on the cusp of the beginning of their adult lives, I hope that my wife and I can help shape and sharpen their faith in Christ. They love their Savior and their actions reflect it. The times we live in call for a stronger commitment and we hope to help strengthen their/our resolve to never settle for less than our spiritual privileges.
