Hi, I'm Peggi
I am a wife, mother of six, a former PTO president, a chocolate lover, a french speaking college graduate and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
You might think having six kids would keep me plenty busy, but I still wanted to finish my college degree. With the support of friends and family I decided to go back to school. It was a difficult challenge but I learned a lot about persistence and dedication. I also learned to rely on the Lord. Towards the end of my program, I still had five classes and only five months to finish. I thought it was impossible to get it all done and wondered if I could actually finish before my program deadline was over. I received answers to many prayers that the Lord would help me. I trusted Him. I knew He had heard my many prayers. I also knew He wouldn't let me fail if I persisted and worked hard. My mother helped with my children, my husband encouraged me to spend my nights and weekends at the library, and friends helped with babysitting. It was a hard task but well worth all the work. Now I have my Bachelor's Degree. I feel better about myself and I am more prepared should anything happen and I have to re-enter the work force. I learned how much God loves each of us and He wants each of His children to succeed in this life. He will help you whenever you need Him.
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up 5th generation Mormon. But I learned I knew for myself the things my parents taught me were true when I left home at age 18. I didn't know anyone when I left home, but the one person I could always look to was God. I learned to really pray and pour my heart out to Him. I prayed about the truths my parents had taught me and I learned through prayer that indeed Joseph Smith was a prophet, that God restored His church through him, that Joseph Smith translated ancient plates into the Book of Mormon. I love reading both the Bible and Book of Mormon. They have all the truths our Heavenly Father has revealed through his ancient prophets. They work hand in hand testifying of the truths in the ancient world of Jerusalem and in the Americas. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I find so much peace in it.
How I live my faith
I hope I live my faith by raising good kids. I try to be a good citizen and my faith helps me with that. I see all people around me as Heavenly Father's children. If He loves me, then He loves everyone around me too. That means I need to treat everyone with respect and love. It doesn't matter what religion, color, or beliefs a person has! I love meeting people of all faiths. I love working in my community to help make it a better place for everyone around me. I try and teach those things to my cub scouts. We learn together to respect our country, respect other people, and take care of the world around us. We pick up trash, we help with community events at the school, and we are good sports when we participate with others. I love seeing young boys learn these values and take them with them as they grow into adults.
I teach my own children these same values in our home. We serve each other by doing chores together, especially yard work! Even though my kids hate the work they have learned to work together. When we all pitch in we can do so much in a short time. I think going to church helps us as a family. We also love participating in a family night once a week. We play games, have treats and talk about our week. We even have nights when the kids teach lessons from the Bible. It has brought us closer as a family. When the world pulls us apart with sports, music and other activities, our family nights are a time to pull together and get closer as a family.
