About Me

I'm a writer. Before I was a mormon I didn't really know where I came from. But now that I know I'm a better person because of it. When me and my family were living in Washington State, my dad got laid off and it caused us to move to Wichita,Kansas. Even when things got tough the church helped us.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined this church because of The Mormon missionaries. I truly believe that if I wasn't a member that I wouldn't be who I am today. The Main reason why I'm a Mormon is because I have read the book of Mormon and I know that it is true.

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

I mention it constantly and I give them bookmarks and things that mention the "Mormon.org" website.

How I live my faith

I help people understand what a Mormon is and I help to answer their questions. I'm a priest. I bless the sacrament, I can baptize with the Bishop's permission. I always tell my friends that I have high standards and if they can't meet those things then I can't be around them.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

I know that we believe that when you die you will have partial judgement and depending on what you did in your life you could go to either spirit prison or spirit paradise. We also believe that people who never got to learn the truth will get taught it in spirit prison and they will also get chance to have someone step in for their baptism. Show more Show less

We were so very sad when our very special eleven year old grandson died in 2009. He suffered from life threatening asthma from birth and was often in hospital. He caught a virus which attacked his heart causing it to go into a dangerous rhythm, which eventually stopped his heart. Every attempt was made to save him but to no avail. The night he died, I thought I might die too - I was so overcome with grief. I was grieving not only for him but for our daughter and her family too. I received enormous comfort from my family and friends, especially those in the church and the outpouring of love and support was indescribable. However, the most comfort I received was my knowledge that I absolutely knew that we would see him again in the next life and that our family would be together forever in the eternities. I was also comforted to know that our grandson would be free from his health problems and be able to have peace. Even though I miss him terribly, I know he is happy and with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel his spirit around me often. I know with total conviction that the Lord has unconditionally supported all of our family through this trial and continues to do so daily. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Some call Mormonism a cult because it is not a "traditional" Christian church. The primary complaint of the "traditionalists" (generally Protestant Churches) is that we do not believe in the doctrine of the trinity as it relates to the nature of the Godhead. The doctrine of the trinity was codified in the Nicene Creed in 325 AD, many years after the death of Christ and the Apostles. It basically says that the Godhead, The Father, Son and Holy Ghost, are one being in "substance." Since Mormonism does not accept this doctrine, they say we believe in a different Christ than they do and therefore are a cult. It is curious that this "trinitarian" doctrine is not taught anywhere in the Bible. Mormons believe the Bible is the Word of God. The Bible (and the early church established by Jesus and His Apostles) teaches that the Godhead indeed consists of The Father, Son and Holy Ghost. But, it teaches that they are: 1) three distinct individuals as expressed in Acts 7:54-60 where Stephen is being stoned. "He being filled with the Holy Ghost looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw Jesus standing on the right hand of God." And it teaches 2) they are one in purpose, not in substance (John 17 where Jesus offers his intercessory prayer, particularly verses 20-23.) This is what Mormons believe. It is noteworthy that the early Christians were called the "sect of the Nazarenes" (Acts 24:5) and were considered a cult by the Sadducees and Pharisees, the predominant religions of the day.
