Hi, I'm Greg
I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I have been a member of the Mormon Church since my conversion some 38 years ago. Shortly after becoming a member I discovered the Singles program. It was there where I met a wonderful young lady who ultimately became my wife. We have 6 children and they have brought 11 delightful grandchildren into our lives – with another joining their ranks shortly. My career is in computer software engineering. And my hobbies, in recent years, have turned to enjoying life with my wife and grandkids.
Why I am a Mormon
I spent my childhood youth attending a local church in our community. While in high school and college I decided that organized religion was not for me. Then at age 23 two Mormon missionaries found their way into our home. Initially I was reluctant to spend time talking with them. However, as we talked I began to see Jesus Christ in a different light. I began to see and understand that even though He lived and died about 2000 years ago He was still very relevant today. As we met further I began to feel the joy and happiness that could be mine if I were to take Him into my life and live His teachings.
It wasn’t long before they invited me out to church. It was there I began to see people of different ages all trying to live the teaching of the Mormon Church. And it was there I began to see the strength of meeting together to help each other to keep a focus on following the Lord. I found that I had answered my ‘organized religion’ concerns but now there was one final item – Why the Mormon Church? My friends kept telling me to not join this Church. But there was something I just couldn’t explain to them; it was something I was feeling inside. If no one else could understand I could see that if I wanted these wonderful feelings to continue to be there I needed to make my stand and be baptized.
On the night I was baptized I received my confirming witness that my decision to join the Mormon Church was right. My answer was so strong that I could say from that point forward in my life, I know this Church is True!
How I live my faith
A fundamental teaching of the Mormon Church is that the Family is the most important organization in the Church! And in following that teaching I believe my responsibilities as a husband, as a father and now as a grandfather come first. To best understand how to help my family I have found that I can find direction by reading my scriptures and going to the temple. And through all this I do my best to set a good example for them.
