Hi, I'm Molly

I was raised in Eastern Washington. I love to learn, sing, work, serve my fellow beings, ride my bike, do yoga, etc. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 9 children, the mother of 5, the grandmother of nearly 4, and the aunt of more than 21.

I have studied cosmetology and dance, owned a bakery, owned a 2nd hand store, have a music degree and a ham radio license, I have conducted choirs, I play the bass guitar and sing in a jazz band for the elderly in various retirement homes in our city. I currently study audio engineering and holistic and naturopathic medicine and teach early morning seminary to 9 intensely bright and beautiful teenagers.

I come from 2 wonderful parents who joined the Mormon church in their early adulthood. My father had had no religious training and my mother's background had been Methodist. They are of Scandinavian stock and my great grandparents immigrated to the U.S. to find better lives. I believe their dreams for their future came true through their faith and labor. Because of this legacy, I have the kind of life they envisioned so long ago.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I understood at a very young age that my Heavenly Father (or God) is, and that He cares very deeply for me and all his creations. I felt deep inside of me that he is always involved in our lives in a way to gently guide us home to Him.

I remember as a girl of 6 years old, I was on my way to school one morning. My brother wasn't old enough yet to attend school so I walked the 6 blocks alone. I was painfully shy and had very few friends so the only person I could talk to was God or myself. I was much more interested in what God had to say anyway.

I'd heard someone saying that there was no God. This baffled me. I reasoned it out in my head as I talked to Heavenly Father. I couldn't see how it could be true if He was there to talk with me on my way to school. I couldn't see how there could be a school or a way there or teachers or parents to send me there if there was no God. I felt that if there was no God then there would be no air for me to breathe nor sun to shine on me. As I pondered these things on my walk that morning it all became very clear to me that God really was there. He really did create all things, that he cared for me so much that he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to help me.

Sometimes as I grew I got a little jealous of Jesus Christ and wondered why He was chosen and not me to be the Savior of the world. The things I learned in my primary classes, Sunday school and seminary training helped me to see what a truly whole and faithful individual Jesus Christ was before the world began, who he was during his earthly ministry and who he continues to be.

I also learned of ancient and living prophets and their importance to our understanding of Christ's gospel. I learned that our families extend far beyond the reaches of this earth. We can be with them eternally when we take upon us the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and live it in accordance to his command with a true and honest heart always. That's what I want.

How I live my faith

I try to serve my community by bringing music to the elderly, adopting extra grandparents and including them as part of our family, participating in community cleanups, studying the issues and prayerfully voting during voting season, serving in scouting and maintaining my home as a safe house for the children who pass on their way to and from school in my neighborhood.

At church I have conducted choir and the congregational singing. I have taught the children in primary classes and adult Sunday school. I have served as a leader in the women's organization called Relief Society and do visiting teaching for a small number of women I'm assigned to visit. I bring a short lesson and sometimes a treat. Sometimes these women have other needs and I try to help them with those. Often those women to whom I've been assigned have become my dearest friends and it never feels like a sacrifice to serve them.

Although I am no longer married and am alone, I am committed to staying sexually pure and modest and maintain my virtue. I feel no need break God's laws when I know the promised blessings as recorded in the holy scriptures.

I am teaching these wonderful youth the gospel of Jesus Christ in Seminary before they go to school for the day (one of whom is my son). I work very hard to be the best example of following Christ that I can. I am not paid for this volunteer position. It as a calling and I take it very seriously. If I cam impart the the joy I get from living Christ's gospel to them, I will consider that the greatest reward.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The church's name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Say Saints. We believe solely that Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith. We're called Mormons simply because of the Book of Mormon.
The reason it's called the Book of Mormon is because Mormon was the abridger of the plates which Joseph Smith translated and published.
Just as in the Holy Bible we have the teachings of Christ from the prophets and apostles of God who lived anciently on a far continent we also have The book of Mormon with further teachings from ancient prophets and disciples who lived on the American Continent.
Whether we read from the book of Genesis or the Book of Revelations we believe that Christ is the author of the truths in them. We are called Christians because we believe in Christ. Whether we read from the books in the Book of Mormon from Nephi, Alma or Mormon, we still believe that the author of the truths held within those pages is Jesus Christ and are still called Christians because we believe in Jesus Christ.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

There is no discrimination or exclusions of race. The Lord says in the bible, "...man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the Heart." 1Sam 16:7. The Lord does not care what race or color you are. All he cares about is you. He loves you.
