About Me

I am a father of 4, I work full time, and go to school. I like to camp, go fishing, and hang out with my wife and kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I spent many years searching for fulfillment in my spirituality. After finding religions that were good, but did not give me that fulfillment feeling, I was introduced to the church by someone close to me, and I have heard bad things about Mormons, but wanted to find out for myself what the church was about. I went to church and learned a lot. I was hesitant to meet with the missionaries, yet I still did to hear what they had to say. I prayed for the first time in years with them when they came to teach me. I felt a light around them, I read the book of Mormon, I prayed about it, and continued to go to church and pray. I felt right, but I still had questions that the world had put out there. I prayed and my questions were immediately answered through prayer. It was very fulfilling to be baptized and to be part of a church where nothing felt missing anymore. That is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by seeking opportunity to serve others. I am called to create my ward sacrament bulletin(agenda) each week which I love to do. I do what is asked of me, mostly little things since there are so many members that anything we need to do gets done in no time. I also help people move in and out of the neighborhood when needed, any help I can give I do, and I get a lot out of it. It is nice to help others and see their faces when they have so much to accomplish, and a group of people come and shoulder the burden with them. I feel like none of us is alone in this world even though the world sometimes makes it seem like we are. Doing what is right is also how I live my faith. I know what the Lord asks of me, and when I live my life right, I am blessed with knowledge of the spirit, and how to lead my family in love and righteousness.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No. The church advocates principles and doctrine but does not endorse a certain political party or candidate. If you look in the United States Congress, you'll see members of the Mormon church sitting on both sides of the aisle from the current Senate Majority Leader to a 2008 presidential candidate.

However, the church is involved in the public arena when political initiatives intersect with principles of Christ's gospel. When this happens, the church will release a statement advocating certain principles and encouraging members to uphold these principles. This type of action often leads to confusion. Church support for an initiative for religious reasons should not be taken to imply support for a particular political party. These are two distinctly separate activities.

No, but we are instructed to be involved and to seek spiritual guidance in all political matters.

We believe that the leaders of a nation, state, and community can have a great influence for good or for evil and we need to ensure that they are represent our values and beliefs.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

The principle of a perpetuating body of twelve special witnesses of Christ comes in ancient times from the fact that the eleven survivors of the death of the Savior chose a twelfth to replace Judas Iscariot (see Acts of the Apostles 1:15-26) Two were considered worthy to take his place, but only one was chosen. When the apostles cast their lots, the inspired choice fell upon Matthias.

In modern times, the Church's organization has been one of gradual building. As the needs of the Church have continued to grow, the prophet of the Lord has been directed to add not only the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, but other supporting quorums of the Seventy as well. The structure of the local organization of wards and stakes has been given by revelation to complete it. But as the needs of the Church continue to evolve so will the structure which supports it. Christ remains the chief cornerstone and the Apostles as the foundation with Him. (see Ephesians 2:19-20 also Ephesians 4:11-14)
