Hi, I'm Douglas
I am married to Diana and we live in Indianapolis. I am a father, a grandfather, a U.S. Army veteran, a CPA, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I like to cycle and work out at the YMCA. My wife and I have been married for 33 years and are the parents of seven children and have three grandchildren. Three of our seven children are on the autistic spectrum, which has been a blessing and a challenge. I have served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader for over 20 years.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon, because the Gospel preached by the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is beautifully simple and simply beautiful and has changed my life forever. I received a witness from the Holy Ghost after earnest study and prayer that God the Father and his beloved son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in 1820 and called Joseph to be a modern-day prophet and restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. I know through the Holy Ghost that God the Father lives, that he knows us by name and that we are made in his image. I know through the same power that Jesus Christ, His son also lives and has a glorified resurrected body of flesh and bones. I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus suffered for our sins and that he brought to pass the literal resurrection for each of us. I also know by the power of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon, the Bible, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price are the word of God revealed through ancient and modern prophets. I also know by this same power that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet today and that my family can be together forever.
How I live my faith
I pray to our Heavenly Father and read and ponder the holy scriptures daily. I serve in Church in the following ways: I serve as a financial clerk for Indianapolis Indiana North Stake (diocese). My responsibilities include training those responsible to account for the sacred funds that are donated by members and to assist in managing church budgets. I also visit three families in my ward monthly to leave a spiritual message, check on how they are doing, and offer assistance as needed. I serve as a cub master for our church sponsored cub scout pack. Additionally, I also serve as an ordinance worker in the Louisville Kentucky Temple.
