Vicki: read, sew, quilt, camp, fish, crochet, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Vicki

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother and grandmother who works full time, likes to sew, fish, and spend time with my husband and family. I love to play the piano, but need a lot of practice!! I like to take pictures and wish I had more time for all of this. I also like to crochet and I am a wanna be quilter. I have tied many quilts and have hand and machine quilted some. There are not enough hours in the day to do all the projects that my mind would like to do. I love the outdoors and like to go camping.

Why I am a Mormon

As Nephi said (1Nephi 1:1), I was born of goodly parents who saw to it that I went to church and was baptized. I cannot tell you exactly when I gained my testimony, but I have always known that the church was true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that Angel Moroni, God the Father and God the Son did visit him. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I am so grateful for all the many blessings in my life. Heavenly Father has truly blessed me. I am grateful for the sacrifice that Jesus made so that I can be forgiven of my sins. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and that I am his daughter. I know that President Monson is a prophet and that he is inspired of God. I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend the Temple and feel of Heavenly Father's spirit there. I know that my Heavenly Father lives and is preparing a place for me if I can just live worthy. As one of our songs says "I am trying to be like Jesus".

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

It is important to search out our ancestors so we can be connected with them. I have always enjoyed searching out my ancestors but have never had much time for it. My father's family is not LDS and they were always leary about giving out any information. I sent a letter to all of my father's cousins asking for any information that they had. There is a cousin doing genealogy that I didn't even know about. All I had on my father's grandmother was a name. One day I received a picture to go with that name and I just sat and cried when I saw it. Sometimes we wonder how to find information, but with prayer, the Lord will help us find ways that we have never even thought of.

How I live my faith

I enjoy attending church each Sunday. I currently play the piano for the women's church organization. I have taught the youth and have been a visiting teacher. I especially enjoyed teaching the church's hymns. The hymns are very special to me. I try each day to do and say the things that Jesus would have me say and do.
