About Me

i am 53 years old.I am on disability currently for health reasons.I am a former wood worker who loves the sound of his own voice.I love my family.I love being grandpa.I also am the best fisherman i know! that [ might be a fish story right there] I have lived here in northern Indiana most of my life,and I love Notre Dame sportsI lost my left foot to m.r.s.e in 2009 and i have failing vision and bad kidneys,but I can still see my family and serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

3o years ago missionaries came to our home and taught the lessons. They keep asking me to pray about the gospel and when I did I had a physical feeling like a slap on the back and the words came into my mine that yes it is true and you know it is.the Lord knew that i knew and I could not deny it.I have had some hard times and bad things come to me and my family over the years,but when I need the Lords help and am humble enough to ask for it he always assure me of his love for me.What great comfort and peace this gives me. to know that he loves this little fat man in Elkhart.To know that he suffered for everyone of us and knows and watches over us stil I do not want to think of my life without this gospel, I am blessed with everything I have because of my membership in this church.it is comforting to know that our Heavenly Father is the same today as in the time of old. Truth lasts forever.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith was a man just like me who Heavenly Father picked to be his first prophet of this dispensation of time. He sacrificed all he had to serve the Lord.I know that he was the chosen one and lead the church righteously. That same church i was able to join in 1981.

How I live my faith

I try to share my love for the Lord by serving others visiting those who are alone those in hospitals or full time care facilitiesI love to cook so sometimes I get cook for different church events.i serve in the church where the Lord wants me I used to be involved with all the moves,but not so much anymore.i like to work with the missionaries so others can have the peace of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is the priesthood?

we cannot take the priesthood upon our selves it must given to us by the Lord who uses righteous men to serve others.

I like to approach questions by looking at the words of things

"priest" has reference to either the concept of one who leads, one who is elder, or one who is holy I like to remember that the words 'holy' and 'whole' are linked by a common ancestry. When something is 'holy' it's essentially saying that it's complete, that it's healthy..

And "-hood" makes reference to the state of being, and not just any state of being but a state of being that's worthy or correct for it's placement. That is, that it's done properly.

So one could say the priesthood is leadership or a point of reference that's completely suited to the position in which it's been placed.

Another way to look at it is to say it's God's perfect order. That is, it's God's perfect arrangement.

In our Church we often give a definition of priesthood as being "the authority to act in God's name" and that's exactly what it means to be a part of God's perfect order. If God commands something to be done by you, and you do it, then you are acting under, and with that portion of God's authority that he's permitted you to exercise within his perfect order.

Just as with any instance where someone tries to act in the name of someone else there are bound to be those who try and do so falsely. That's why God has things ordered in such a way that one can know for certain if someone has His God's authority, or not.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

For me, nature is one of the strongest evidences that there is a God. It is hard for me to believe that the mountains, oceans, forests, flowers, animals, and skies were randomly formed. It is hard to deny the beauty and the peace one can feel while sitting in silence and looking into the night sky.

Beyond that, answered prayers tell me there is a God. I have prayed too many times and seen answers too many times for me to think that it has all been coincidence. These were prayers that expressed my concerns of which no one knew, yet were accompanied by answers that were so specific and detailed. God loves us to a degree we cannot comprehend, and as we look we will feel His love in very powerful and comforting ways.
