I grew up in WA State on a quarter horse ranch. I have moved and lived in many places. Love the arts and the ocean. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an artist and work in any medium I can get my hands on. I love ocean and would someday love to live by the sea again. I love to travel and try new things. I haven't been on a mission as yet but would someday like to. I grew up on a quarter horse ranch but am comfortable in any surroundings. I love to meet new people and learn about thier cultures and lives. I have four grown children and three beautiful grandchildren. I have a dog, a pair of beautiful love birds and a bette. My real passion is gardening and my beadwork.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I beleive in our Heavenly Father and want to return to him someday and be with my family again. I love being here on the earth and am so thankful for the many gift that we have been given by our Heavenly Father. Each and everyday there is something beautiful to behold and cherish. I beleive we are here to learn and help each other to find true happines and the truth of why we are here. I am also thankful for my trials and realize that while experiencing them is not what we want to do but have to remember that God has a plan and we must look for the lesson in all we do. We all fall but all we have to do is get back up and back onto the path to the course God wants us to be on. With his gift of the holy spirit to be with us each and every day we can get through even the worst of times. What a gift God gave when he gave his son's life for all of our sins and then gives us the gift of the holy spirit to be with us. What a loving Heavenly Father we have.

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

We can develope greater harmony in out homes by spending more quality time with our family. In these times when we all are so busy simple things are important. Having meals together and family prayer. Having family time set aside for a family home evening where you can do uplifting activities and share your feelings.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

You can use your talents to help others always. We all have different talents so letting others know those talents are important.

How I live my faith

I have just moved into a new Ward and have been called as a visiting teacher in which another female companion and I check on other female members of the Church once a month to see if they have any special needs or are in need of emotional support whether it be with housework etc..I try to attend Church as much as I can and try to do my best in my community by being a friend to those I meet. We make an impression whether good or bad in at least one person's life each and everyday whether we realize why or not. It can be just a small smile or opening a door, a compliment or any number of things.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are strong. Mormon women are sure. We are taught from the time that we are tiny that we are daughters of God. Many people question equality between Mormon men and women because we believe in the traditional roles of the family, the classic stay-at-home mom and the working father. It makes me sad that society has degraded the role of a mother and made it seem undesirable and less than an occupation outside the home.

We believe in eternal families. We believe that this life is the one time in all eternity that we are sent to be tried and tested. If those beliefs be true than there is nothing more noble and exciting than being a mother. To be chosen to bring life into the world and to steer that life to goodness and love is one of the greatest and most impressive things that can be done.

I am proud to be a woman. I am excited to be a mother one day. I am an advocate for education and self-betterment for all. I value the differences of women from men. All of these things I learned to do from my religion. If that's not feminism I don't know what is.

In 1776 the Declaration of Independence declared all men to be equal. However in 1830 when the Book of Mormon was published and the church established women and people of color still had no legal rights. The Book of Mormon declared 'Behold, the Lord esteemeth all flesh in one... (1 Ne 17:35) and '..black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile' (2 Nephi 26:33). Joseph taught and lived this. He authorized the Church's women's organization The 'Relief Society'.

When the church moved outside the U.S. borders, they created the State of Deseret with their own constitution which gave ALL adults the right to vote. The State of Deseret was later divided into US states. When the Woman's right to vote began in 1913, women had the right to vote in 4 states: Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado and Utah.- all part of the original State of Deseret with their large Mormon populations. The Relief Society actively supported the Sufferage movement.

The church has always encouraged women to develop their skills and education. The Relief Society sent and paid the schooling for one of the first women at Medical School. Nothing has changed. Motherhood is emphasized because it can be a woman's greatest role - for children are our future. It can also be a woman's greatest joy. Jobs, looks, accomplishments etc will fade or be forgotten, but a loving close family won't, And thanks to grandchildren it will continue to expand.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

We believe that our families are the basic unit of any society, and that failure in the home means that we've failed as a nation and a people. We've heard that it takes a village to raise a child, and that's true enough. But our leaders have told us that the most important work we can do in life, even more than any professional pursuits, is to raise our children in righteousness.

Think about it. If each father and mother were just a little more engaged in their family's lives i'm not talking about controlling their family, helping their sons and daughters with the challenges they constantly face, the crises we find ourselves in as a nation would become much less. We'd more good in the world as a result. You may think that naive or unrealistic, but I know how much good one family can cause, and how much pain another can cause. We want to change the world, and to do that we need to change ourselves and help our families become better too.
