I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Southern California. I have a lovely wife and 6 wonderful children.

About Me

I am a Dad of 6, husband of a lovely wife, I work for the LDS Church as an IT Solutions Manager. I love to cook, play volleyball, workout, and spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of what this Gospel helps me to become. I know that the beliefs may seem constraining, but as I have lived them, I have increased in wisdom, caring, kindness, love, and abilities. I see the teachings transform lives and have the potential to help all mankind become perfect.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

This plan has given me insight into why I am here, where I came from and where I am going. As I understand these better, I make better decisions. It is reassuring to know we have a Father in Heaven who loves us enough to have a plan and reason for our existence.

How I live my faith

I serve the youth in my stake (4000-5000 members, multiple congregations) in scouting and ecclesiastical efforts. I teach ~20 older members once a month in Church. I read scriptures almost every day and listen to talks from our leaders daily. I try to pray multiple times a day to solicit God's help in everything that I do. I feel blessed to feel the Spirit in my heart and mind helping me daily.

What do Mormons believe about family?

The eternal natures of families is an amazing part of the Gospel. I love my family dearly and want to do everything that I can to be with them forever.

The family is a key component to support us in God's plan for gaining immortality and eternal life. All of God's children (all the inhabitants that lived, are living, and will live on Earth) are inseperably connected to each other, both (physically) by our Earthly families and (spiritually) by our Heavenly Father.

Families help us to understand our divine heritage. In this, life takes on purpose and meaning. Our immortal spirits were created by our Heavenly Father before Earthly existance, and we are directly connected to Him in this way. As a spiritual family, our collective purpose on Earth is to follow the commandments of God that lead us to live in heaven with Him again.

Our spirits need to progress, learn, and grow. In order to achieve that, Earthly existance was created as our test. Our Heavenly Father knew that being exposed to opposing forces on Earth was the only way for us to gain knowledge and wisdom.

However, we will not always choose righteousness, and so our Savior, Jesus Christ, is that great mediator to pay the debt of our mistakes. He is the only way by which we can be saved from our sins and transgressions. He is the ultimate example by which direction we need to live our lives. With the support of our earthly kin, we can learn from each other, serve each other, and strengthen our mortal weaknesses by being disciples of Christ. Our families are a gift from God, and we can be together forever.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We are all saved by grace no matter how we have lived our life, as long as we believe in Christ and believe that he is our Savior. Most Christian religions believe that this is all there is to being saved. Mormons believe this for the part of being saved in which the body of flesh is reunited with the spirit. For this part of being saved, yes, Mormons believe that all people, no matter how they have lived their lives, will be saved and have their body reunited with their spirit at the resurrection through the grace of God. However, Mormons also believe there is another part to Christ's atonement and being saved, and that refers to his taking on of our sins. To be saved from our sins, and take upon us the name of Christ such that his atonement will wash away our sins and we will have everlasting life in God's presence, we must repent of our sins. After we have done all that we can do, then the grace of God will wash away our sins because of Christ's atoning sacrifice on our behalf.
