About Me

I have a passion for life. My motto is life is too short too be unhappy. I am currently teaching preschool at a University as my husband attends college. It isn't a successful day without a mess! I have always loved working with children, especially children with special needs. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood/Special Education from Brigham Young University. I have been married for 4 years and we are expecting our first son in February 2012. I have two dogs, Bandit and Nala, that I spoil like my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member my whole life. While being raised in the gospel was a helpful foundation, I ultimately made the choice to continue to live the gospel as I grew older. When life is hard I rely on my faith and knowledge of the church to get me through. Without the faith I have in my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ, my life would not be complete. Also the church is a great way to meet good friends and positive role models that help make me a better person.

How I live my faith

I try my best to live by example. I have always lived in areas where the church wasn't well known. I want to live in a way that if people don't know Christ, they will want to know Him because they know me. I want others to know that I am a happy and optimistic person because I know that I am a child of God and I know my purpose in life and that knowing those truths, life is easier and it you can get through anything. I try to serve those around me and do what Jesus would do.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. We admire Joseph Smith and consider him a prophet of God and follow his teachings as we do with Moses and other prophets of old. The thing that makes Joseph Smith unique amongst prophets is that he helped to bring the Church of Jesus Christ back to the earth after a period of darkness which is known as the Great Apostacy.

Saying that Joseph Smith is the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint (LDS) may cause a misunderstanding for some. LDS doctrine teaches that Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that existed in Old Testament and New Testament times. The "of Latter-day Saints" in the church's name denotes that this is the last dispensation before Jesus Christ's Second Coming, or the last period of time in which the Lord has at least one authorized servant on the earth who bears the keys of the holy priesthood. The Old Testament and New Testament discuss various dispensations when Christ's church existed on the earth in its authentic state.

So, what is the importance of Joseph Smith in relation to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. He was simply a man called to speak for the Lord and played a key role in the restoration of Christ's church here upon the earth in these latter-days. Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, we do not worship Joseph Smith, but study his life and teachings to better understand the will of God. Joseph Smith may had been a leader, but he was not and is not the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The head of the church is clearly stated in the church's name. The Church of "Jesus Christ" of Latter-day Saints

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

No there is no restriction. Heavenly Father made us all different but we are still brothers and sisters. We have a wonderful melting pot of races and colors. We only see our brothers and sisters.
