Hi, I'm Andrea
I was homeschooled nearly my entire life. I'm a full-time writer now, with several teen books published. And I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I love learning--being homeschooled nearly my whole life opened up many avenues and instilled a strong desire to discover the world around me. Despite family financial problems, I've been able to travel a lot, and I put myself through college. I continue to do other things that help me stretch myself and learn.
I love the arts: music, literature, visual. I paint, draw, and write.
I was recently married--it took us a long time to find one another. My husband shares my appreciation for traveling, learning, and the arts.
Why I am a Mormon
My grandparents were converts to the church. They raised my parents as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was born not knowing any other way to live.
However, I realized at a young age that I couldn't be a Mormon just because my parents and grandparents had been. I had to find out for myself whether this was the true church or not.
I prayed for help--to know what the Lord wanted me to do. My answer didn't come with fireworks and loud bangs and amazing visions. It was more of a peaceful strength, over several years.
The calm reassurance I feel lets me know I am where the Lord wants me. I know He guided me to find the truth on my own, separate from my family. I don't doubt there will be many things that will try to persuade me to stray, but I know as long as I remain faithful to my Savior, Jesus Christ, I'll always find the necessary support to remain strong in doing His will.
How I live my faith
I mentioned earlier that I've had several books published. I feel very strongly that as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, my writing should maintain and follow the standards of my church. I've written romance, but it is clean romance. None of my books are vulgar or have swearing.
I believe that the youth of today need strong, good examples in literature and in their lives, especially in the coming days. Things in the world are getting more and more crass, hard, and difficult. It won't get easier for the children. They need all of the support and guidance they can get. I've done my best to provide them with these role models, both in my writing, and in my personal life.
I work closely with the girls in my area who are between the ages of 12 and 14. I love these special young women and have found great joy in watching them progress and make correct choices.
