About Me

I'm an East Coast girl serving a full-time Spanish speaking mission in sunny California. I have never been happier and I cherish every day that I get to spend preaching the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Before my mission I attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. I love indie-rock/pop/electronic music. I love throwing dance parties with my friends, blogging, making delicious food, traveling the world, and spending quality time with my crazy wonderful family.

I never planned on serving a mission but when the Spirit speaks to your mind and heart, there is no denying that the Lord has a plan for you. He DOES actually care what you do with your life. So I found out what that was, and here I am doing it! There is no where else I'd rather be.

Why I am a Mormon

I have gotten down on my knees and prayed to God, asking Him if this church is the true church, His church. I have asked if The Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture, and if there is a living prophet today. I have felt the comfort, peace, and warmth of the Holy Ghost testifying to me that these things are all true. No one else could have convinced me, so I asked God Himself. He answered. And that's why I'm a Mormon.

Just because we know something is true doesn't mean it's always easy to be loyal and strong in the face of temptation. But God knows the perfect recipe for ultimate happiness. I want to be happy, so I follow the steps. Although I may not always understand WHY some of His commandments are so important, I trust that He knows best. I have faith that as I strive for obedience to all the things He asks me to do, the results will be far greater than I could have ever achieved on my own.

How I live my faith

I serve full time as a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The only pay I receive is the joy and satisfaction that I've done my best every day to bring the blessings of the Gospel to as many people as possible. I live my faith by acting on the promptings of the Spirit. Missionary work is the Lord's work and must be done the Lord's way. When I do the things He requires, I qualify myself for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. With this guidance I am able to find and teach those people that the Lord has prepared.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

We teach about God and Jesus Christ. We teach about the power of prayer and scripture reading. We teach how you and your family can live together forever, even after death. We teach the plan God has provided for all of His children to attain eternal joy and salvation.

I served a mission in South Korea for two years, so I can tell you. :) The missionaries will probably be as nervous as you are as they arrive at your home. The nervousness does not come from timidity or a lack of belief in the message they bring, but because they want so much to express their testimonies and the Spirit they feel to you.

The missionaries will likely introduce themselves and get to know you and your family. Though missionaries are called by God to preach His word, they come from largely every-day backgrounds and have lives likely much like yours.

After getting to know your family, they will likely ask what questions you may have about life or the Mormon church. Using the scriptures and their own personal experiences, they will seek to help you find answers. Don't be afraid of asking any question or thinking you may offend or sound silly to the missionaries. They are called to help and serve and are very understanding.

After answering your questions and sharing a spiritual message, the missionaries will ask you to act on the message. A soccer player does not listen to his coach during practice only to go home without kicking a ball, right? In the same way, the missionaries will invite you to read a chapter of scripture or seek for yourself that what they are saying is true. You don't have to just take the missionaries' word in what they say--a loving God is happy to answer thoughtful, earnest prayers seeking for the truth.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

There are doctrinal answers to why we believe we need a Savior to redeem us from the Fall of Adam and to return us to our Father in Heaven that you'll probably come across here. But let me tell you why I need a Savior personally and what He does for me. Christ suffered personally for my pains, sorrows, and sins so that if I ask Him too, He can take them from me. I have been the victim of abuse in my life, and yet through Him I have been able to lay it all at His feet, freely forgive, feel peace, find love, and understand how important negative life experiences can be in teaching us humility. Daily He takes my pain and replaces it with pure love so that I am no longer a victim, but a victor. I need a Savior because He knows me, and through him my flaws become strengths and my pain becomes peace.
