Mandy: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Mandy

I'm a Mormon. I'm a college graduate, wife, and mother.

About Me

I was raised in north east Georgia on good manners and good southern food. In school I played soccer, ran cross country, and sang in the choir. I came to Utah to attend Brigham Young University to get a teaching degree. I love teaching children because of their desire to grow and learn. I am a mother to a rambunctious 5 month old with an infectious smile. My husband and I love to play tennis, cook new things, and spend time in the outdoors. I love to read, run, attempt cute crafts, and spend time with those I love.

Why I am a Mormon

There is a difference between why I first became a Mormon at age 8 and why I still hold fervently to those beliefs. My mother was raised in the church. Her life is an example of how faith in God gives you hope, strength, and unconditional love. My father joined the church in his mid-twenties. His life is an example of how God can make more of us than we'd ever imagine on our own. I was baptized because I wanted what I saw in them.
Thousands of miles away from home, as a college freshman, I had to figure out my relationship to God. I met new people from all over the world who interpreted life differently and whose morals were quite varied. I had to find a lasting source of truth that could tell me what really matters in life. The gospel of Jesus Christ, restored in its fulness to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, taught me that I am a daughter of God who has eternal, divine potential. I am a Mormon because I want to develop Christlike attributes. I am a Mormon because I know that Christ lives, that He loves us, and that in order to be saved, we must follow Him. God loves his children too much to send them to a world without revelation, through a prophet, on how to return to Him.
I am a Mormon, because the principles I learn teach me how to love myself, love others, and love God more perfectly.

Personal Stories

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

The Holy Ghost is the way God communicates with mankind. I can feel the comfort of the Holy Ghost when I am sad, needing guidance, or reassurance. I can feel it's warning when I am not living the way I should. Most importantly, I am able to know what good works God would have me do as I seek for, prepare for, and heed the promptings of the Holy Ghost. I can always be assured that I am making the right choices when I have the Holy Ghost with me.
When I read the Book of Mormon as a teenager, I prayed to know if it was truly scripture. I felt more peace and love from my Heavenly Father at that one moment than at any other point in my life.

How I live my faith

The women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meet together weekly as a society to develop charity and serve others. One way we do this is to visit other women in our church on a regular basis to see how they are doing and if they are in need of any service. When I serve others, either by taking a over a meal or just being a friend to talk to, I create lasting friendships.
