About Me

I buy aquatic and reptile supplies for a large nation wide retailer In the United States. I served a two year LDS mission in Lima Peru. I like to work, play with my kids and spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ because I have read the Book of Mormon, prayed to my Heavenly Father and he let me know through the comfort of the Holy Ghost that it is true. I continue this same practice daily and the Lord gives me that peaceful assurance that it is true. I have seen people's lives changed because of it's power and influence. The life that I have see the biggest influence is my own. I have never been a bad kid but I feel closer to my Savior every day that I have applied the practices I have learned from the principles taught by the church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by looking at every day as an opportunity to be the hands of the Lord on the earth. I pray each day that the Lord will help me see those who are in need around me and how I can offer a helping hand or kind word to someone having a bad day. Each time I carry this prayer in my heart through out the day the Lord has guided me to experiences that I know were answers to their prayers. I work with the youth in my neighborhood come closer to Christ and teach them how to be successful in life. I tach the youth that in a tome of selfishness they look away from their problems and look outwardly to others who have a greater need. At work since I don't drink or smoke I have the opportunity to live my faith by sharing my beliefs that I avoid anything that can be addicting or harmful to my body. I also try to live my faith to be an example of a good husband and father with integrity at all times and in all places.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

God throughout time has used Prophets to guide his church and his people on the earth. The Prophet that the Lord has chosen present day is Thomas Monson.

God through out the ages has spoken to His children through living prophets. We have a prophet today, named Thomas S. Monson. He is a prophet just like Moses, Abraham or Peter. My wife and I, were blessed to be personally called by President Monson to serve a mission. For 2 hours we sat in his office as he taught us. We felt his spirit and his love. I know that he is a prophet. This is the Savior’s church and He leads this church just as he did anciently through a living prophet. As we follow President Monson’s teaching and example we will be blessed to draw nearer to the Savior.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

I just saw news footage where a minister called the Mormon Church a ‘cult’ and the news commentator turned around and said it wasn’t. The news commentator was right. One definition listed for ‘cult’ in Webster’s Dictionary is “a religion regarded as unorthodox.” ‘Unorthodox’ according to whom? Catholicism and over 2000 churches who broke off of the Catholic Church or the original teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ? We believe some of the original doctrines contained in the original Church of Jesus Christ fell into apostasy and were changed by men. One example is the definition of the Godhead as laid out in the Nicene and Athanasian Creeds that are widely accepted by most Catholic and Protestant churches today. We believe the Godhead is made up of three separate and distinct individuals that are one in purpose not in body. When I read about the atonement in Matthew 26:39 (KJV), “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt” I believe God the Father, Jesus Christ, Peter and the other Apostles would find the teaching that ‘Jesus Christ was praying to himself’ as quite ‘unorthodox’. I choose to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, not the teachings of men…regardless of the names they choose to call us.
