About Me

I love photography. I have been taking pictures since I was 10 years old. I love being able to preserve moments in time. I love being a mother to 5 great kids, I am a stylist for my youngest son and love spending time with my 14 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because I had a dear friend that shared it with me and even though i was a avid Methodist she kept inviting me and I finally went to an institute class with my friend on courtship and marriage were I learned that till death do you part was not good enough for me that is when my friend asked me to listen to the missionaries and even though I had some backlash from some of my other friends I took the challenge of the Book of Mormon and that is when I learned that it was true and I was baptized.

How I live my faith

I worked with the children for the longest time whom I loved. I now work with the adult women helping coordinate the teaching on Sunday. My favorite job in church has been working with the children because they are honest and they love learning about God and Jesus Christ. They are so enthusiastic about the gospel and so creative.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Absolutely not! While we definitely serve the members of our own church, we believe that ALL men and women on this earth are sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. Therefore, we are all one in purpose. Mormons serve people throughout the world on a local/personal level as well as on a global level. Members of our church are able to donate money, which is distributed throughout the world to people and nations in need, especially in times of trouble and disaster. It is also common for members of the church to organize activities where materials for humanitarian aid are gathered and distributed.

Absolutely not. I personally have been a part of countless efforts to serve those not of our faith. We don't just serve others because we want them to join our Church. We serve because it's the right thing to do. Because it's what the Savior taught and exemplified. I think God often places people in our path when we are in a position to help. Sometimes, this can be a litmus test for how committed we are to living a Christlike life, especially if this "opportunity" comes at a very inconvenient time.

Perhaps we sometimes overlook opportunities to help because we are too focused on the problems staring us right in the face. I do know, however, that the Church makes a very concerted investment of time, talent, and resources in humanitarian aid throughout the world. We are often some of the first to arrive and the last to leave in cases like Hurricane Katrina, Haiti, and areas affected by the Indian Ocean tsunami in December 2004. We often coordinate our efforts with other organizations like the Red Cross or the Catholic Church.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are strong. Mormon women are sure. We are taught from the time that we are tiny that we are daughters of God. Many people question equality between Mormon men and women because we believe in the traditional roles of the family, the classic stay-at-home mom and the working father. It makes me sad that society has degraded the role of a mother and made it seem undesirable and less than an occupation outside the home.

We believe in eternal families. We believe that this life is the one time in all eternity that we are sent to be tried and tested. If those beliefs be true than there is nothing more noble and exciting than being a mother. To be chosen to bring life into the world and to steer that life to goodness and love is one of the greatest and most impressive things that can be done.

I am proud to be a woman. I am excited to be a mother one day. I am an advocate for education and self-betterment for all. I value the differences of women from men. All of these things I learned to do from my religion. If that's not feminism I don't know what is.
