Hey ya I'm Travis Denny. I love my life! I am so HAPPY. My favorite fact is that it takes 64 muscles to frown and only 13 to smile!!! Unless someone wants a way gnarly buff face, JUST SMILE! I grew up in Layton, Utah. I like to make videos and do photography for extreme sports like skateboarding and snowboarding. I love being with family and friends, especially when we're all doing some awesome stuff!! I'm a missionary in the low country of South Carolina. It's legit! I LOVE IT! I love to skate, snowboard, long-board, scooter, and to film others doing that to. My parents are the best couple (besides my future wife and I whoever that may be) on earth! In my hard times, it was those sports that kept me sane. I know the best thing I can do for my life is live the gospel and smile while doing it! I love to be outdoors in this adventurous world that God gave us. I can wait to have a family of my own, but not too long. I love life! It's a party and with parental supervision it's even better!!! AW YEAH!!
Because it makes me Happy with a capital H! I was raised in the church and near the age of 16, I didn't know why it was important to actively live the gospel. It took me a little while to understand, but now I know why my parents did all they could to help me go to the church. It is never to late. If we put our trust in god and faith in Jesus Christ we can make our very next step in the right direction. At first I was a Mormon because my parents, then I was a Mormon to be an example to others, but now i'm a Mormon for me, and i've never been happier. If you wanna be one to, add me on facebook and i'll hook you up with the missionaries! It will make you so happy!
To help others find the happiness that all the truths and details of the gospel has brought to our own lives. In the church, when boys turn 19 they have the chance to serve a Full-Time Mission. I am on my mission right now in South Carolina. It has humbled me so much. I now understand so much more about why it is important to do missionary work and not only be a member of the church but to actively involve yourself in what you do in the church and in church activites. It is so fun out here. I have learned to enjoy the simple things in life and be content with what I have and not complain about what I don't have. We do this so others can understand the importance of the power of the priesthood. Some people don't know the truth only because they don't know where to find it. That is why we heed the call. That is why we follow Christs example and do what he did. We leave our families for 2 years so others can live with their families forever. It is the best experience I have ever had.
Well in my own life I have noticed that when I make right choices I see what comes from those right choices so I want to make more right choices. It's a whole domino effect. I have made my fair share of wrong choices and realized I didn't like that. I am thankful for the mistakes I have made because sometimes mistakes are the best the way to learn. My group of friends when I was growing up were probably in my same boat. Wrong choices mostly but slowly realized why it's good to make right choices. I can see their lives through the letters I read from them. The ones that are making right choices have totally obviously better lives then the ones that are still making wrong choices. God is not boring. As we humble ourselves and make right choices, he will bless our lives with the things that we didn't even know were possible.
My prayers have been answered in many ways. One of the biggest ways is through the Book of Mormon. I have so many questions about life that and I can find the answers in the Book of Mormon. The Holy Ghost is the way that I find these answers. I'll read something in the scriptures or talks given by the Prophet or Apostles and the Holy Ghost tells my heart that it is true. When miracles happen, my prayers are answered. When the things in life happen that make everything happy, my prayers are answered. I have found, through prayer, that individual personality is so important. I love to skate. I love to snowboard. I love that part of my life and more then half the time the people around me doing those things aren't the best and through prayer I am able to overcome peer pressure and overcome the world. I can do the things I love while staying faithful because I know that when it's needed, I can talk to my loving Heavenly Father, and he will always listen to my prayers and help in time of struggle.
I know that he is a Prophet. Just like in times of old through Moses, Jeremiah, Noah, and Enoch, God called a Prophet to restore the fullness of his church back to the earth. Joseph Smith was a man of no great intellectual ability and yet he was able to compile a 531 page book from an unknown language into english. He faced many trials and challenges like mobs breaking into his home, dragging him to the streets and taring and feathering him, after beating him with the fists and hands. He had the faith to go to God in all things and do whatever He asked of him. Because of him, millions of people all over the earth have found the true and living gospel of Jesus Christ by experiencing it for themselves. The Holy Ghost has touched my heart and opened my understanding and has helped me find out for myself that Joseph Smith was called to restore the true Church of Jesus Christ back to the earth and if I know that because God has helped me find that truth, then you can to. Read, ponder, and pray about the Book of Mormon. If that is true then the Church is true. It's as easy as that.
1 Timothy 4:12 states "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." I believe that the best way we can share the gospel is first off just being an example to others. When we know and live the gospel it changes behavior faster then anything else. We can help people know that the reason we live this way is because of the knowledge and faith that we have in Jesus Christ. We can help others find the truths that we know by showing them the fruit of the gospel, or the way that we live because of it. Inspire hope in them by allowing them to see the difference THIS church makes.
It has greatly brought me to realize how adversity, hardship, and trials are apart of life. When someone does not have an understanding of the Plan of Salvation they will only be able to focus on this life. They do not know where they came from and where they can go. Simply, they cannot know their potential in this life and what they can receive in the next life. Knowing the Plan of Salvation has brought great peace into my heart because I know that there are good things to come and I just have to be patient and trust in my Heavenly Father and I know that those blessings will come. Knowing this has brought direction, solace, and comfort in my life.
Until the end of 2012, I will be a Full time missionary for the church in the South Carolina Columbia Mission, so I live my faith by teaching it to others 24/7 and actually living what I believe. I do what I can to have the spirit with me always, make the plans, take the steps, bounds, and leaps of faith, then leave the rest to God. When I get home I have committed to do my best in the church and magnify my callings and raise a family and be the member missionary that I need to. Now that i'm on a mission, my goal for when I get home is to do all I can to make sure youth around me go on missions. Nothing has brought me such happiness and in the future there will be few things that bring greater happiness. Smoothies are close, the outdoors are even closer, but the gospel is still #1!! I love it.
