I love to learn. I especially love everything that has to do with math and physics to the point that I pride myself in being a nerd. I want to be an areospace engineer to design aircraft and am stuying areospace engineering to be able to realize that dream. I´m slightly obsessed with Lord of the Rings. I love basketball and always watch the NBA playoffs. I´ve lived in Boston, Utah, and Mexico. I speak two languages, Spanish and English. And the absolute most important thing in the whole world is my family. I love to spend time with them, laugh with them, play with them, grow with them, cry with them and try to ensure that they are happy.
I´m a mormon because nothing brings me greater joy, peace, and confidence than living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When I don´t try my hardest to follow the example of Jesus Christ or when I fall short in my moral behavior I don´t feel nearly as good even if I am excelling in other things. But when I´m trying my hardest to live as Christ lived, and to do what he did I feel such great joy and contentment because I know in my heart that He is pleased with me. It´s a feeling that I never ever want to lose and that´s why I´m a Mormon.
We go on missions because when we think about all the that God has given us we cant help but give a little of our time to help His other children have the same thing. We have families, homes, possesions, food, and happiness, joy, and the contentment of knowing that the Gospel is true. That is alone is drive enough to give up school, family, and jobs and share what we have experienced with others. I would feel selfish if i couldn´t give a little bit of my time to the Lord after all that he has done for me.
The missions of the church are to 1) perfect the members, 2) share the gospel, 3) redeem the dead, 4) provide for those in need. And the church is organized in such a way that by merely doing what your suppost to be doing in the church you complete all of these things. The church has so many activites all of which are based around completing these goals. And its when you really understand that there is and underlying purpose for everything we do you serve willingly and joyfully and see God´s hand in this work and reap the blessing that God has for you.
I love the Book of Mormon! There are some times when someone asks me a question or I ask myself a question that I don´t know the answer to, and it makes me doubt and question whether I am in the right. But, then I remember the Book of Mormon, and how I feel when I read it and how I have prayed to know that it is true. And when I think of that I forget my doubts. Because if the Book of Mormon is true then this church is true. I feel great comfort in knowing that the Book of Mormon is true because it takes away my doubts and helps my focus on the things that matter most, like my family, my accions, and my love for others.
My prayers have been answered by little tender mercies throughout the day. Little blessing that the Lord gives me that makes me realized that everything is going to be allright, and that someone is watching out for me and that God is powerful to fulfill all his promises.
I think the two biggest things that have helped us are daily family prayer, and daily family scripture study. I feel united and loved by my family when we pray and it gives me motivation to keep doing what´s right. And in scripture study we are able to talk openly about the challenges that we face as a family as we read stories of people that had problems similar to our own and how they successfully dealed with them. Two very simple but powerful tools that unit and protect the family.
I love my family. And I want to do everything I can to make sure that we can live together again. I know that there are certain things that I have to do in order to achive that. From the scriptures and modern day prophets we know that those things are faith, repentance, baptism, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. I know that I have to do those things in order live with my family again and I also know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only church that has the authority to be able to do them. So I am continually trying to have faith in Christ by, reading the sciptures, praying to my Father in heaven and doing the little Christ-like things that draw me to Him. I continually try to repent and correct myself when I make mistakes. And when I go to church every sunday I renew the promises I made at baptism and am blessed with the Holy Ghost. And when I do those things I not only prepare myself to live with my family again but am also blessed with happiness and contentment in my daily life and with my family.
