About Me

I grew up in the Golden State of California, and have lived there all my life thus far. I've played the piano for about 13 years or so and have composed a few peices, including two choral pieces both of which were performed by my high school choir, of which I was a member of for all four years, 3 of those years being in the advanced singing chamber choir. I sing bass preferably, but I can sing baritone and if needed tenor. I am 20 years old and I am currently serving a mission in the state of North Carolina as part of the Raleigh North Carolina Mission which covers the eastern half of the state. The gospel has blessed me in my life in more ways than by anything else, especially upon coming out and serving the Lord for two years.

Why I am a Mormon

Simple, because the church is true and I know it is.

How I live my faith

By serving the Lord and others and helping people to come closer to Christ.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, it is an obligation to help and serve others at all times. Though it is highly encouraged for all worthy young men to serve a mission, it is not required. Though out of honesty, why would one worthy young man wish not to serve the Lord for 2 years? It is a voluntary work where we as missionaries literally pay money to the church, which then is distributed amongst the different missions world-wide depending on the needs of the finances. Serving a full-time mission means devoting all time and attention to serving the Lord, but you learn much of your purpose and many of the mysteries of God while serving. One will not know the meaning of the phrase, "The best two years," until one has experienced it for his or herself.

No. Every worthy young man is expected to serve a mission, though there is no punishment for not doing so. Also, not every young man is physically or mentally capable, so there are circumstances where a young man may be excused from service. Young women may also serve missions, but are not expected to do so.

Serving a mission means a full-time commitment, leaving family and friends to preach the gospel in a place assigned by the Church.

Women have a divine role, as designed by Heavenly Father before we came to earth. We were given the sacred opportunity to be mothers and to work alongside the brethren of the church to serve, uplift, and strengthen others. Women are powerful and strong forces for good in the world. We must be careful, however. The world today often tries to demean the divine role of womanhood by over-sexualizing women or saying that they should be the same as men. Women and men are different for divine purposes. I don't want to be a man. I know that Heavenly Father sent me here to be who I am because I can contribute to this great work in a way that no one else can. I'm grateful to be a woman today.
