Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church when i was fourteen years old. It was the end of summer and my best friend and i were determined to have a sleep over but the only way i could get to her house was to go to church with her, that day changed my life.
As we sat out on her swing set that night i asked her a question that had sat in my mind all day. "katelyn, why where all those people at your church so happy?" and her simple reply was "they are happy because they have the gospel in their lives" We stayed out on her swing set all night as she taught me the plan of salvation and i imediatly knew that what she was telling me was true.
Within the next few days i had my first meeting with the missionaries and it was not long before we set a date for my baptism. My decision was not something that my family agreed with and the day before my baptism my parents changed their minds about what i was doing and refused to allow me to get baptised. Although i was upset that my baptism would not happen i didn't let it stop me and i continued meeting with the missionaries. For three years i attended church as the " dry mormon" and finally at the age of seventeen i got my parents approval and was baptised.
Those three years where the hardest time of my life but i knew the truth and i knew that i wanted it more than anything. The gospel has influenced my life in so many ways and has been such a blessing to me. I can testify that i know the church is true and that the book of mormon is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that we have a prophet on the earth today. If you pray with a open heart and a desire to know if this gospel is true i can asure you that you will also recieve cofirmation.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith was actually the first part of the gospel that i gained a testimony of. As i learned about his story it was a comfirmation to me that the gospel was true because if it wasn't and if he did not have heavenly father helping him he would not have been able to endure all of the trials that he had to go through. Joseph Smith was such an amazing person and i am so thankful for him and for his faith in heavenly father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to be a good example to others around me.

What do Mormons believe about family?

For me my family is the most important thing to me. I love my family and i want to be with them forver and having the gospel in my life is a comfort because i know that this is possible. My main goal in life is to remain worthy to have a temple marriage and to be sealed together with my family forever

The family is a key component to support us in God's plan for gaining immortality and eternal life. All of God's children (all the inhabitants that lived, are living, and will live on Earth) are inseperably connected to each other, both (physically) by our Earthly families and (spiritually) by our Heavenly Father.

Families help us to understand our divine heritage. In this, life takes on purpose and meaning. Our immortal spirits were created by our Heavenly Father before Earthly existance, and we are directly connected to Him in this way. As a spiritual family, our collective purpose on Earth is to follow the commandments of God that lead us to live in heaven with Him again.

Our spirits need to progress, learn, and grow. In order to achieve that, Earthly existance was created as our test. Our Heavenly Father knew that being exposed to opposing forces on Earth was the only way for us to gain knowledge and wisdom.

However, we will not always choose righteousness, and so our Savior, Jesus Christ, is that great mediator to pay the debt of our mistakes. He is the only way by which we can be saved from our sins and transgressions. He is the ultimate example by which direction we need to live our lives. With the support of our earthly kin, we can learn from each other, serve each other, and strengthen our mortal weaknesses by being disciples of Christ. Our families are a gift from God, and we can be together forever.

Are Mormons Christians?

YES. Yes yes yes. What is a Christian? A Christian is a person that believes in Jesus Christ, and believes that Christ did in fact die for us so that we can repent and return to live with him again. He is our Savior and Redeemer. We pray and we worship in the name of Jesus Christ. He is the center of our faith. Jesus Christ is my Savior. He died for me. He loves me. He is my hero, and he is my best friend.
