Marissa: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Marissa

I grew up in Wyoming my entire life. I have a love for golfing and plan on pursuing a career in that. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I am attending college and I plan on finishing out the semester and then working to save money to head to the Golf Academy of America in Phoenix, Arizona. There is where I plan to pursue my career in golf and possibly become a successful math teacher. Most of my hobbies consist of playing golf, hanging out with my friends, and having a good time. A lot of people recognize me as the girl that was on the golf team and made a huge improvement during her high school career. Which is something I wouldn't change the world for!

Why I am a Mormon

A while ago I was going through a rough time and I ran across the missionaries while doing community service. Being a curious teenager who started losing all faith in God, I decided to start taking the lessons from the missionaries. While I was taking the lessons I started gaining more and more knowledge that this is the true church of God. My moms side of the family is hard into the Lutheran religion and didn't approve of me meeting with the missionaries. Although my mother loved the missionaries, she didn't agree with the church, which kind of let me down. Once I got the nerves up to tell her that I wanted to get baptized she told me I had to wait till I was 18 if it was something I really wanted. Finally my 18th birthday came around and two weeks later was the set date for my baptism. Anxious for the day I invited my family and unfortunately only my mother and my grandmother showed up. It meant a lot to me that they actually showed up and actually made the day even better. As I was getting baptized it felt like it was just God and I in the room. That is when I knew for sure that this was the right and true church where I belonged. The very first time we watched the movie Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration is when I realized that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. I now know that Thomas S. Monson is a modern day prophet of God and every time I hear him speak my testimony grows stronger and stronger. Everything about this church I know is true and I'm so happy that I now get to live the rest of my life with such an amazing gospel leading me the right way.

Personal Stories

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

When my friends ask me about the gospel I simply tell them the things that the missionaries have taught me. The plan of salvation, the restoration, and the atonement. Helping them better understand what I know about the gospel might interest them and encourage them to learn and partake of it. Also, I think it is important that they know what my stance is with some of the things they do. Such as drinking, smoking, partying, and doing things that are illegal. I think it is important to share with people what you think when they ask you about it.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

I believe making right choices lead us to making more right choices because once you make a right choice you feel good about yourself and it encourages you to keep making those right choices. Also, I believe making right choices leads you to a better outcome in your life. Making a right choice one after another can lead you to having great feelings towards yourself and towards those around you and it can put you in a better mood throughout the day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to set the best example that i can to other people such as the community, my friends, and my family. If they see me doing the best that I can and being that person that I have always wanted to be, then maybe they will be curious and start investing the church. A friend and I are visit teaching three of the women in our church and sharing our testimonies with them to help them grow with the gospel.
With only being in the church for three quick months there are multiple things that I would love to do to help share my testimony and live my faith as best as I can. I would love to go on a mission when I am able to and share the gospel with the people that are in need of it. Also, I would love to share with my close community the gospel and help open the eyes of others to the true church.
