I'm a very happy Mormon. I'm a mother, a wife, a daughter and have a million interests. I'm also Nancy Today on youtube.

About Me

Gee, I have so many hobbies. I guess I love primitive living skills. So I make baskets, soap, salves, tipis, sew, knit, spin, weave, cook, do woodworking, make campfires, cook over the campfire in a dutch oven...hmmm, what did I leave out? I also love crafts like gourding, painting, making jewelry. I am quite ecclectic. I hang teacups on saucers in the garden, have them mounted on posts for birdfeeders, hang them in lines for rain chains. I have a bathtub in the woods with a hot water tap I installed on the outside of the house. I renovate, do wiring, do plumbing, build structures. I grow flowers and some vegetables. I do all of this on video and post them on youtube under Nancy Today. I have lots of fun with my life! I also adore my husband and our children.

I also love attending the temple and being a tempe worker. It is really a wonderful foundation in my life. It keeps me in the strait and narrow!

Why I am a Mormon

I searched everywhere to find the church that worshipped the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I knew Jesus with the Christ. When the sister missionaries came to my door, I was surprised they were teaching me about a church as well as about the Savior. I have had many spiritual experiences which have continued to verify to me that being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ is the right thing to do. I can not deny the truth of all of the teachings. It brings me great joy and helps me to choose the right. I know who I am, why I'm here, where I'm going after I die. I look forward every day to seeing what the Lord's will for my day will be.

How I live my faith

I try to obey all of the commandments. When I mess up, I repent, or try to. I try to serve others, like taking care of my Mom and of my family and friends. I share my faith and the things that inspire me as I'm making videos on youtube as Nancy Today. I try to live my life so that I could be mistaken for an angel, doing the Lord's will, wherever He places me.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

I don't know. Quite honestly when labels are used I think this comes from someone's desire to quickly explain away something that they don't understand. If they really took a hard look at the church it would be easy to tell that Mormons do not blindly follow any human being. I think maybe someone who might use that label could look at the level of commitment and obedience found among the members of this church and casually explain this away as blind obedience. They certainly do not see the personal struggles and the effort that maintaining a personal relationship with God requires. Like most Mormons I think, I do what I do out of devotion and love. It may start out as duty and habit, but as I have come to know God and His mercy and love (the big picture) I can't help but want to keep the commandments. I don't follow a person, I follow God and His Son and they help me every step of the way.

Because we believe in continuing revelation through Prophets as in the days of old, i.e. Moses, Abraham, this is uncomfortable for some people because media has made our Prophets seem like evil men leading people astray, when they are just trying to teach us correct principles so that one day we all may return to live with our Father in Heaven.

Another reason is because we believe in the sacred nature of temples, meaning only worthy members may enter the Temple so people think that evil rituals are performed. However, in reality the nature of the temple is uplifting and beautiful and gives us clarity to what the purpose of life is, the plan of salvation, and other topics such as life, death, and the atonement of Christ. The temple is not "secret, but it is sacred. However, we encourage all to live so that they may one day enter the temple.

In the Temple we are taught some pretty powerful truths about who we are, where we came from, and why we are here. It's not the kind of experience you can just walk into and get. There is significant spiritual preparation and learning needed first. It's better to be prepared and enjoy the fullness of the experience than to rush into it too quickly and end up confused. The ordinances in the temple also require that you prepare yourself to have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and God the Father. The best way to prepare for the Temple ordinances is to begin living their teachings consistently before entering the Temple. This is your way of showing Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father that you love them, obey them, and are ready for additional light and knowledge. Without this preparation, any ordinance of the Gospel would be an empty set of rituals. The Temple, in its fullest sense, prepares men and women to return and live with God as His sons and daughters. Anyone in the world can experience the power and beauty of the Temple, but a wise Heavenly Father has set out certain guidelines for their personal preparation first. Those who love Jesus Christ and walk in His ways will find in the Temple a power beyond their comprehension and a closeness to God not possible anywhere else in the world.
