I am a design engineer, so I enjoy drawing, as long as it has to be straight lines and perfect circles. I am a Jaycee (Junior Chamber of Commerce) and will be president in 2012. Through this I am able to give back to my community very much, and learn some leadership traits along the way. I've just became an avid recycler. It gives me something to do. I like to read very much, and am part of a book club. TV and movies are great, when there is enough time for them.
I'm a Mormon because I can't imagine being anything else. I was raised Catholic and fell away from that right away. I spent about 6 to 7 years not being invested in any form of Religion. About six months before my 30th birthday I was introduced to some very nice young men, probably the coolest missionaries in the world, who gave me a Book of Mormon. The first question they asked me was "Are you Religious?" I answered no. Look at me now. I'm a recovering alcoholic (sounds worse than it is), and an ex-smoker of ten years. I was baptized about a month and a half after I quit all of those things, and I haven't looked back since. I know the Book of Mormon is true. It helped me in more ways than I can describe.
When I was first introduced to the Church I started praying again. Now I Pray daily, and most times multiple times a day. I say a prayer first thing in the morning, and this always gets my day off to a good start. I can tell the difference if I forget to do this. Throughout the day I shoot little mini prayers out to help me get through little things. Red light is taking too long. Guy at work is getting on my nerves. Phone won't stop ringing. All of these things can be overwhelming, but I don't let them get to me any more. At the end of the day, right before I go to bed, I say another prayer. Since I've started doing this I've been able to fall right to sleep every time. This is the first time in my life that this has happened.
I strive everyday to be better than what I was the day before. Because of this, everyday is the best day of my life. I volunteer a lot in my community, through Jaycee events. Like I said before, I've started to recycle, and this enables me to make better decisions about what I purchase. People notice this, and have followed. I've just been called to be a Ward Missionary. I've been asked to concentrate on spreading the Scriptures through the internet, so I will probably start writing a blog soon. Still working that one out. I help the full time missionaries out, with rides and help teach lessons every once in a while. I'm able to look at things from more than one side. I can show, through just being alive and going through what I did, how true and great this Church is.
