About Me

I've been married for 3 years to a wonderful husband. I'm currently working on my doctorate in molecular biology. I love learning, and science is my favorite subject. In my free time I enjoy music of all sorts. My husband and I love going out to concerts as much as we enjoy sitting at home and playing the piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe the gospel is true. I believe that we have a father in heaven who loves us. I chose to be a member of the church because I love all of the teachings. Living the gospel has always brought me great joy and I know it will continue to in the future.
It is wonderful to know that what the purpose of life is. It is wonderful to know where I came from, why I am here now, and where I am going in the future. It is wonderful to know that my existence has meaning.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is an extremely important part of my life. In our church, we have access to basically anything we could ever want to know. We have the scriptures, we have the church handbook, we have church magazines, we have general conference, we have sunday school... we even have a prophet! But if somehow, for whatever reason, none of those resources are able to help us when we are in need, we are able to individually talk to God. It is amazing! Anyone in this entire world can talk to God! And He listens and answers.

How I live my faith

I am currently called as a primary teacher for the 4 year olds in our ward. It has been a huge blessing for me. These children show me that life is still just as simple as it was when we were all children. I love being reminded of small, simple truths and the things that are important in life.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Today our prophet is Thomas S. Monson. Just as with previous prophets he is called of God to lead the members of the church.
One of my favorite things about this gospel is that we have a living prophet. We have a man that is able to speak directly with God, then speak to us what God would have us do. I believe that ongoing revelation is extremely important - without it religion would be a farce.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We believe that God loves all of His children and that none of us are mistakes. Earth life is a time for us to meet challenges and overcome our weaknesses as we rely on the Lord. We are all unique, and so it makes sense that different people have different challenges. Just because one challenge seems harder than another, that doesn't limit God's ability to help us understand and overcome it.

As disciples of Christ, we are to love everyone and look for the goodness in everything. The family is central to God's plan. Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and this relationship allows us to grow closer to God. Marriage is more about what you can offer and sacrifice for your spouse than for what you can receive out of it.
