Hi, I'm Wes

I'm a Marine, I'm a runner, I love life and believe in Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, my family is big, loud, active, and we love getting together, eating, and poking fun at eachother. I started running when I was sixteen years old in high school and have enjoyed the side effects greatly! Nothing beats getting whooped by a good run. After High School I joined the USMC as a reservist, training in the Corps set me up for the life style of a missionary, I served in the Luissianna, Baton Rouge mission. Nothing in life has givin me more purpose then learning and sharing the good news of Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have seen the consequences of bad choices, I have seen how living the gospel as it has been restored though the prophets of God has broughten increased understanding of the people and the world around me. I have been givin a disire and a corse of action to become some one that has freed themselves from past feelings of guilt, shame, and narrowmindedness. It has givin me a new out look on life and why I am here. I have read the Book of Mormon along with the bible and I have come to love the words that are within its pages. I feel that my relationship to God has improved and that my Father in Heaven is proud of the dission I made to dedicate my life to his cause.

Personal Stories

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

Most of the time my prayers are answered right when I stop looking for the answer. Other times it is through the Holy Ghost guiding my thoughts to the answer I was seeking. The scriptures talk about how the Comforter will bring to our remeberance the things of Christ. I have found that the more I learn of Christ the more my prayers are answered because the Holy Ghost can't help you to remember something you have never learned. God answers my prayers when I pray as He would have me pray, God knows whats best for us, some times we might think we know what we need/want but maybe thats not what is best for us at that time. If we trust God we will know that if He answers our prayers the way we want, we asked for the right thing, if He doesn't we might want to ask Him why.

What is hope and what do you hope for?

Hope is an anchor for our souls says the book of Mormon, I say it is what leads to faith, hope is a belief, a looking forward with an expectation of something to come. I hope to live again, through Christ’s atonement I know that he suffered for my sins because I have felt my burdens lighten, so if he claimed to have saved us from the "fall" (Adam and Eves' wrong choice) then we would be saved from death. This hope enables me to press forward knowing that the things of this world are temporary. That God will reward those who endure with an everlasting happiness. Mosiah 2:41

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

Knowing Gods plan for me helps me see the end result of my life goals... I feel like I understand the WHY of being here. The WHY of death. The WHY of families. The WHY of self improovement. Knowing the WHY of things or understanding the situation we are in helps us to have strangth in trails and helps us to make right choices, it saves us from getting angry when it is not needed, from rash or hasty judgements, and from fear to stand up for what you beleive in.

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

The Book of Mormon has helped me to know Christ in an intricate way, the bold simplicity of the authors’ testimonies has provided an edifying source of comfort and guidance. The Book of Mormon seems to offer advice specific to my life at the time I am reading it. I feel God answering my prayers though its pages, I know it is from God because it invites me to believe in Christ and to come unto him. I know that the Book of Mormon will provide an enriched testimony of Christ to all who read it and that if you believe in Christ you will believe in the Book of Mormon, because they are the words of Christ.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you?

When Christ was giving the Sermon on the Mount, He made the point of how he was here to fulfill the law, as in take it further then it was or exceeds the existing law. That is not enough to merely not kill someone, but it was un-Godly to hate your brother. That it was not enough to merely not commit adultery, but it was evil to have such thoughts. It changed my view of things not to do, to a living example of what I should be and how to get there. This knowledge has changed me; I have the desire to improve at everything I do. I think of ways that help me to come closer to Christ as opposed to trying to see how much I can get away with. I know that through living this concept I have found true joy in improvement and I have felt the Holy Ghost testify to me of the truthfulness of that principle.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

prayer is a part of my evening, I enjoy going to God in my thoughts and simply discussing my day, things I thought about, things I did, things I could've done better, I ask for his help in form of advice, strength, love, peace, forgiveness, and what ever else I feel prompted to ask for, or stand in need of. I often receive guidence while praying, It usually comes in the Holy Spirits guidence of my thoughts to things that I already know, He simply helps me to put it into perpective. I dread the thought of tring to sleep with out praying first. I know that because of prayer I have begun to understand the theame that my Father in Heaven would have me pattern my life after. I feel His love and guiding hand. If you havn't tried to talk WITH God instead of simply talking TO Him, I would invite you to try it.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

From what I have come to understand recently, as we make right choices we build character, and character helps us to set personal patterns in our lives that help us to rule out wrong or time wasting activities. Who I am is a result of what I do, If I want to change who I am I would change what I do, how I act, how I think, my opinions, etc. Character influences how we respond to things and how we act. This is an incredibly empowering principle. An Apostle said "we become what we want to be, by consistently being what we want to become." Richard G. Scott

How I live my faith

Well, I feel that faith is manefest in the things we do, faith leads to action. I therefore live my faith by thinking of others, I try to up hold the law, and be honest in my dealings with others. I live my faith by developing a relationship between myself and God, the most effective way I have found to do this is through prayer that has been guided by the frequent aplication of scripture. As well I feel obligated to God to do my best at every thing I do, because of my baptism a few years back I now bare the name of Christ, I try to honor his name with my actions.
