Hi, I'm Becky
I'm a dancer. I'm a singer. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I love to sing and play the piano. I started playing the piano at the age of 6 and really started singing during high school when I joined the show choir and participated in the school's musical. I have also danced since I was a child and I have continued doing so. I recently graduated from college with a major in Family, Consumer, Human Development, and am currently working at a residential treatment center for adolescents with drug and behavior problems as a dorm counselor. I am an energetic and outgoing person and love life.
Why I am a Mormon
Why I'm a Mormon. I could say it's because I was born into a family of the LDS faith and so it's what I've believed all my life. But now, at the age of 21, there is so much more. I don't know what I would do without this Gospel. Each day I wake up, I know that I am not alone. My Heavenly Father is always there. Always caring. Always willing to love me no matter what mistakes I've made. What more could anyone ask for? All He asks is that we keep His commandments. Honestly, not too difficult if you really think about it. They are guidelines to use to make sure you can obtain optimal happiness in this life and the next. Why not follow them?
And we have the Atonement. Jesus Christ came to this earth and died for all of our sins. This makes repentance possible. I will be forever grateful to my Savior for that everlasting sacrifice. He and our Heavenly Father are here to make sure that if we come to Them, we CAN be forgiven of our sins. This is the greatest blessing of all.
Personal Stories
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
Since I am a singer, I have had opportunities to sing in church meetings. Although singing solos in front of a crowd scares me to death, I choose to do so because I know I am blessing the lives of others. Almost every time I finish singing a spiritual song in a church meeting, someone will come to me and tell me how grateful they were for it. It helps increase their testimonies, and it also helps increase mine.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by showing what I believe through my example. Working with adolescents who are not of my faith, I am occasionally asked questions about what I believe. Living my faith, I share what I believe. We must not be afraid of what others may think. Live like you believe.
