About Me

Hey there! :) I should probably start out with my name. My name is Celia Marin. I currently live in Caldwell, Idaho. I'm 20 yrs old and my birthday is Feb. 18th. I LOVE all kinds of music, soccer is my favorite sport and I love playing it, I can play guitar, I love camping, four wheeling, church, reading, singing for the heck of it, driving around with friends, staring at the stars, taking walks, volleyball, bowling, sledding, snowboarding, wake boarding, tubing, paintballing, traveling, jet skiing, going out to eat with friends, and anything fun. :) I'm attending BYU-I and I'm majoring in Accounting. After college I'd like to work for the FBI. That's one of my things on my to do list. It's a huge goal and I'm sure I'll be able to accomplish it with a lot of faith. I'll be going on a mission and I report to the MTC March 21st. I've been called to serve in the Utah Ogden Mission, Spanish speaking. I'm really excited to preach the gospel and bring people unto Christ. I can't wait to love the people that I don't even know yet because I'll be serving the Lord and the people of Ogden, Utah. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I know this church is true. I have NEVER doubted it. I've prayed about it and I always get this burning feeling in my body every time. I've seen many miracles within the church. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and was called to restore the gospel for our times. I also know that we have a prophet in out times to guide us on what we have to do so we can return to our Heavenly Father. I know the Book of Mormon is true and has guided me. I know that families can be together forever and I'll be able to see my family that has passed away.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

Mormons go on missions so they can preach the Lord's gospel. Also leave their families so others families can be happy.

How I live my faith

I'm very active in my branch. I attend my home branch and the singles branch. I've had to teach a few youth classes. I help my mom organize a few church activites as well.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Members of the church that will attend on Sunday services will wear their "Sunday best". It includes suits, sport coats, and ties for men and modest dressed or skirts for women and children also dress up for Sunday.

Members of the Church celebrate Christmas and Easter because it's significant because of the birth, suffering, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Also celebrate the regional and national holidays of the countries where they live. Also celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and similiar events.

Mormon customs throughout the world do not vary widely. In fact in my travels around the world, the church is one big family which welcomes you as one of their own. Most of the major national and Christian holidays are celebrated Christmas, Easter, New Years when ever oit occurs, and nation's founding, and personal birthdays. Mormons dress up for Sunday services. When traveling, casual, modest clothing is normal. For other activities, any modest attire is acceptable. There are occasional "theme" activities with approprite dress.

What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

We were so very sad when our very special eleven year old grandson died in 2009. He suffered from life threatening asthma from birth and was often in hospital. He caught a virus which attacked his heart causing it to go into a dangerous rhythm, which eventually stopped his heart. Every attempt was made to save him but to no avail. The night he died, I thought I might die too - I was so overcome with grief. I was grieving not only for him but for our daughter and her family too. I received enormous comfort from my family and friends, especially those in the church and the outpouring of love and support was indescribable. However, the most comfort I received was my knowledge that I absolutely knew that we would see him again in the next life and that our family would be together forever in the eternities. I was also comforted to know that our grandson would be free from his health problems and be able to have peace. Even though I miss him terribly, I know he is happy and with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel his spirit around me often. I know with total conviction that the Lord has unconditionally supported all of our family through this trial and continues to do so daily.
