David: Mormon.

Hi, I'm David

I'm a university student. I love animals and books. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just recently finished a mission in Uruguay, South America, where I taught many people about the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now that I'm home, I 'm planning to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I enjoy reading, writing, and volunteering at various community nonprofit organizations, including the local library and wolf-hybrid rescue. In time I hope to complete a degree in comparative literature and become a college professor, or pursue a career in writing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My parents always shared their faith and love of Jesus Christ and his Gospel. We prayed together, read scriptures together, and worshiped together in church. In time I began to nurture my own testimony of the truth. I prayed to know if Joseph Smith had really seen God the Father and His Son. I prayed to know if The Book of Mormon and the Bible were true books of scripture. God gave me an answer. I felt the peace in my heart that only the Holy Ghost can give as it teaches us. For two years now I've had the opportunity to share my testimony of Jesus Christ and his restored Church as a full-time missionary. I know it's true as surely as I live. I've seen how lives are changed as people accept even more truth and light as God continues to reveal His Word through living prophets.

The Gospel is true and it makes me happy. It invites me to love others and make them happier too. It prepares me for life with our Heavenly Father. Why am I Mormon? Because it's the only true way to Jesus Christ, and it brings eternal joy like no other thing can.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I just recently finished a mission to Montevideo, Uruguay, South America. I decided to go because I know it was a commandment of God, and that He had given me so many blessings in this life that I couldn't possibly refuse this call. I saw the joy that came into many people's lives as they accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, repented of their sins, and began to figuratively feast on all the scripture he has revealed since Biblical times. Many accepted baptism, which is an essential ordinance, or ceremony, to bring us closer to God and allow us to live with him again.

Of course, when you serve the Lord, you receive even more in return. My own testimony grew. My knowledge, my patience, and my ability to love, were all increased. I grew more close to my Heavenly Father in those two years than I could have ever done on my own. We go on missions because everyone is a child of God and needs to live His restored Gospel to live with Him again. Everyone needs an opportunity to accept or reject it. And we as people grow immeasurably by serving our Master and our King, even Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Since I just returned home, I do not yet have an assignment in the Church. Until I receive one, I'm speaking in various local churches and sharing my experience and testimony gained on a two-year mission. I look for opportunities to serve others, read my scriptures daily, pray always, and try and love the people around me. After all, the two great commandments, to love God and to love one another, are the core of our faith, and you don't need a formal assignment to do so.
