Hi, I'm Amber
I'm a mom of 4 boys. I own a business and work from home. I am addicted to baking and eating chocolate. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I grew up in Aurora, Colorado, US in a family filled with boys. I was the oldest kid with four younger brothers. I thought they were all crazy then, and I guess I still do, but I love them. My family is fun!
After leaving home I went to college at Brigham Young University in Utah, US. I got my degree in Social Work. A week after graduating I married my husband and then got a job doing child protection for 2 years.
I am a mom and I love it. And guess what? I have 4 boys. I can't seem to get a girl in my life for anything! (No sisters, no daughters, not even any nieces!) But I love being surrounded by my little boys each day. I am a stay at home mom. I love spending my days with them. I also own my own business-an internet retail site for baby and kids items and it allows me to work from home, mostly after they are in bed at night.
I love to do a lot of things. My top three favorite hobbies are reading, sewing and cooking. And I LOVE to eat what I bake. I am addicted to chocolate. I love to get take out with my husband on Friday nights and watch a movie or play a game. I love being with my family.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born a Mormon, but at some point we all have to choose for ourselves if we are going to stay a Mormon. If we believe for ourselves.
When I was about 13 or 14 years old I decided it was time for me to find out for myself if this religion was true. I got down on my knees at my bedside and prayed to know the truth. After a few moments the distinct thought came to my mind "you already know!" And I realized I did. I already knew it was true. I had felt the truth of it many times in my childhood and I knew for sure that it was true. That what I had been taught my whole life was the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I have never questioned it since that time and I still know. It's true.
Personal Stories
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
I love the Savior's example of service and compassion. There isn't anything in my life that brings more happiness than serving others whether it is my own family, people at church, friends, people at school, neighbors or people in my community or the world. Loving people and serving them makes me happy and I want to do it every single day. I am happy that I have the Savior as an example of how to treat others and of going out of my way to lift and strengthen others.
How I live my faith
Family comes first in this religion. Day in and day out I am a mother. I am a mother who wants to raise boys who also know the truth and who are good, well rounded people. I choose to stay at home with them so that I can help nurture and shape them into the people I want them to be. I try to do this in part my living as an example to them and also with simple things like daily family prayer and scripture study, a weekly family night and attending church regularly. For me that is the most important part of living my faith.
Outside of my role as a mother I also love to serve others. I do this at church as I teach the teenage girls and try to be a role model for them. I also try to serve others in my community in little ways every day of my life from little things like being a friend to bigger things like giving to those in need, helping in the school or whatever else I can do. Service for others is a big part living this faith.
