I'm a wife, a mother of 2, and a Houston Astros fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a very small town on a farm with every animal you can imagine. In high school I was an athlete and excelled in Tennis. I married the love of my life when I was nineteen, and a year later we were blessed with our beautiful daughter. A little over three years later we were blessed again with the birth of our son. I enjoy participating in the PTA at my daughter's school and going to our local gym for some "me time".

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I like the tight nit family environment I feel when I go to church each week. I know that I am not perfect, but I still feel loved, accepted, and wanted. I am continually being lifted up each week at church and when I am visited by my church sisters. I love Jesus Christ and enjoy learning about his teachings in the scriptures, at church, and at the temple. I love having a beautiful temple near and being able to go. I also love having a living prophet on the earth who receives revelation and leads and guides me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by participating in activities at our church. I also am a Primary leader in our ward. I enjoy teaching and being a good example to the kids 18 months to 11 years old. I love teaching the sharing time lessons on Sundays and seeing the children participate in the lesson. I also strive to be a good example at all times to those around me.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes! (You might want to sit down for this great news!) I love reading the stories of prophets in the Old Testament. The prophets spoke to the people of that time about the things they most needed to hear. I'm so grateful that just like in biblical times, we have a prophet for us now!

Our prophet truly is a man called by God to help us. I know this is true every time I read his insights and guidance for us in these times. With a living prophet to guide us, we know what to focus on in our personal and family life.

Definitely! In fact, it is hard for me to imagine the world without them. We live in difficult times with wars, economic uncertainty, and just issues and questions that are unique to our generation. Prophets are able to speak with God and relay critical guidance to us that help us to always know what God would have us do.

I believe God loved His children enough in the 'old' days to send His prophets to guide and teach them. He is unchanging, and loves us equally and continues to always have His prophets give us instructions that pertain to our generation.

Are Mormons Christians?

Depends on whom you ask. If you ask a faithful Latter-day Saint, the answer will be "yes". The arguments that I've heard against our being Christian are that we believe in the Book of Mormon (Another Testament of Jesus Christ); we believe that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two separate beings with physical, glorified bodies of flesh and bone; we believe that Joseph Smith was called of God in our time as a prophet; etc. The short answer is "yes", we are Christians. I would even go so far as to say we are the only Christians; that is, we are the only church that Christ has given his priesthood authority. If a Christian is a disciple of Christ, then we are certainly striving to be Christians. Certainly, other churches help and serve in ways that are admirable. There are good people everywhere in the world. However, Heavenly Father is a God of order, not chaos. He has established one faith, one church, and one baptism. There are not several roads that lead to His Kingdom; there is one. We all can receive a witness from the Holy Ghost that we are on that one path that leads to eternal happiness.
