About Me

I'm 31 years old. I'm a husband to an amazing and beautiful woman. Together we have 2 sons who are the most important things in my life. I like technology and electronics and work for a technology company. I am a musician and love being creative at work and at home whenever I get the chance. I am working to get re-focused on my education and taking college classes online.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up hearing about Mormons here and there, but didn't really have an example of or an understanding of what it means to be a Mormon until I met my wife. She shared her testimony as I investigated the Church as well as other religions. After having the opportunity to meet with the missionaries, I converted and was baptized at 24 years old.

The scriptures that I have available to me because of the Church, the guidance of the Prophets, the support of my fellow members, the power of the priesthood, and the love of my Savior have all blessed my life in more ways than I feel I ever deserved.

I am far from perfect and by no means a model father, husband or friend all of the time. But I know that as long as I am faithful and do the things that my Father wants for me to do that I will always be forgiven and continuously grow to be a better person.

I am so grateful for the knowledge and wisdom that have been bestowed to me from the Church during my constant search for truths in life. Above all else, I could ask for no greater gift than the one that I have been given as a member of this Church: the gift of eternity with my family.

How I live my faith

I teach Sunday School to 14 and 15 year old's.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

One of the best ways to learn about basic tenants of our religion is by checking resources like this website, chatting with the missionaries, and have them send you some resources (like a Book of Mormon, videos, etc.) and then try finding the closest LDS chapel in your area by looking in the phone book or online. They can have missionaries come to your home and teach you if you wish. Another good way is to go to church with a friend or an acquaintance of yours who is LDS, and they can also connect you with the missionaries. If you don't have any of those resources nearby, chat with the missionaries and they will find a way to have someone connect with you. There's probably more Mormons around than you think.

A. You could go to a mormon.org profile from someone in your area that has a facebook link, and locate them that way!
B. You could go to the link on mormon.org that says "request the missionaries"
C. You could go to the link that says " Find a Church" and come visit us. We all would be more than happy to meet you to and explain why this message is so important for all of us.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

I suppose that new and different things have always been a challenge for some. It seems possible that the New Testament Christians might also have been called a cult: they were few in number, taught new, or at least different, doctrines and were lead by strong, charismatic leaders (a study of the early apostles like Peter or Paul bears this out).

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often called the Mormon church) follows the teachings of Jesus Christ as contained in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. We do not worship our founding prophet (Joseph Smith) or our current prophet (Thomas S. Monson). We teach that men are saved by the grace of Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrice on the cross and that as we strive to follow Him and keep His commandments, that redemption becomes personal.

If others persist in defining the Church as a cult, in spite of our rather obvious Christian beliefs and doctrines, then we will simply have to agree to disagree.
