About Me

I was married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple to my wonderful husband in 2008. I graduated from Brigham Young University, Idaho with a B.S. in communications and a double minor in business and psychology. I am a mommy to a sweet little boy and a homemaker! I am learning to sew and loving it! I love being a mother and wife, it is without a doubt the best job ever!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the the church so have a been a member my whole life. I have a testimony that this is the true church of God, and that Joseph Smith restored it to the earth. I believe in the power of repentance and prayer, and without it I would not have the blessed life I have today. I believe and follow our beloved Prophet, and know that he leads us on the path of righteousness in these Latter Days. I'm grateful to have my family forever. I have a strong testimony of tithing, and that if we are obedient in it that we can be richly blessed temporally and spiritually. I love my Heavenly Father with all my heart, and hope to return again one day to his presence.

Personal Stories

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

Repentance has been the most key teaching that has brought me to the life I have now. I went through some rough patches of life, and when I thought all hope was lost I remembered that's the reason Christ died was for our sins, and that through Him comes the power of forgiveness. Changing my life and repenting was the best decision I could of ever made. I am now happily married and sealed for time and all eternity to my wonderful husband. I am a mother to my sweet little boy and am so lucky that our journey is forever.

How I live my faith

I attend church regularly and at the current moment I don't have a calling because we are temporary in our ward. I hope to have a calling when we get to our permanent ward though. I have served in the nursery which I loved, and hope to serve someday with the young women in our church. I also love to go to the Temple, and it is my goal to start going at least once a month. I love to help people in need or who have lost their way in this life. I have been that lost person, so I know how it feels. I strive to always want to be there for a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen for anyone that needs it.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

The Restoration is needed because of the Apostasy. The apostasy is a time foretold of by the prophet in the Bible Amos. In Amos 8:11-12

" Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:
And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it."

Amos tells us that there will be a time when the gospel, or "the word of the Lord" will be lost. That time came when Jesus Christ and the Apostles were killed. Even though we still had the bible, there were no prophets or apostles to keep the gospel pure and true. Man was left with their own interpretation of the Bible. As we all know, there are thousands of christian churches all based on the bible, BUT all teach different doctrines. When Christ was on the earth He did not set up thousands of different churches so that there was something different for everyone. He had one church. His church. The prophet Peter tells us that there will be a restitution or a restoration of the gospel, in Acts 3:21

" Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began."

In short, the gospel was lost during the Apostasy and the Restoration brought it back. So, now we have the same gospel that Christ set up when he was on the earth. :)

When Jesus was on the earth he established his church. To guide it, 12 apostles were called by God and had priesthood authority to act in his name. When an apostle died, he was to be replaced so that there would always be 12 “special witnesses” of Christ (this is shown by the calling of Mathias as a member of the 12 in Acts:1)
The early years were troublesome times for Christians. The greatest antagonist to the church was the Roman Empire. During this era of persecution, apostles were killed and priesthood authority was lost. Centuries after Christ was crucified Rome pulled a 180 and adopted its own form of “Christianity” as the mandated state religion. To conform to previously held pagan traditions, ordinances like baptism were changed and creeds of faith, not found in the bible, were established.
Recognizing the discrepancies between this church and New Testament Christianity, righteous people protested and many of their followers formed new churches. This era of protestant reformation was critical in advancing religious liberty. But simply recognizing the errors of a church, does not give one God's priesthood authority (see Hebrews 5:4) Even those with the best intentions of following Christ’s teachings need proper priesthood authority to be baptized. The world needed a Restoration of Christ’s original church, not a reformation of an apostate version of it. And as soon as a nation was established with the religious freedom to allow it, the Lord did restore his church!

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

This is nothing new, nor is it exclusive to the Judeo-Christian tradition. Many faiths practice alms or a tithe, including Islam and Sikhism.

A voluntary religious contribution of 10% is a tithe or tithing. This type of offering is mentioned many times in the both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. In the book of Genesis, chapter 28 verse 22, the ancient patriarch Jacob covenanted with the Lord, "and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee."

Everything we have, our lives, the earth and everything in it, have been given freely to us by a loving Father in Heaven. He asks only a small portion in return to help build his kingdom on the earth.

When my husband and I were first married, we decided to make paying a 10% tithe a top financial priority, and it has been a great blessing to us through the years. In Malachi, chapter 3 verse 10 it states, "Bring yea ll the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you thei windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." This has certainly been the case with us.

I realize that 10% of one's income can seem like a large sacrifice. However, when the law of the tithe is kept, it serves as a portal through which great blessings (both tangible and intangible) can flow. The Lord always finds a way to bless those who do what He asks them to do.
