Hi, I'm Chanda
I'm a sister and an aunt. I love learning, working, and having fun with family and friends. Music is my passion, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I love music! Music has been a big part of my life growing up. I have played the trumpet for 11 years and have taken part in several band programs and sang in choirs. Music is a powerful tool that I have used throughout my life. It uplifts and has the power to take us away from our every day worries. Music has changed my life and I enjoy sharing that gift with others by performing in concerts for the community. I love kids! I have one nephew who I absolutely adore and many small cousins who I enjoy playing and spending time with. I love my family. It is my family who has helped me get through the struggles of life and I cherish how my family has grown to be so close. We are all best friends and there for each other through everything. They have been my support and I know I can turn to them for love and acceptance. Because the family is central to Heavenly Father's plan, I know the family is being attacked today more than ever before and we have to fight to keep the family together and strong. This is why I am going to school to become a Marriage and Family Counselor, to help the world stay strong by starting with the family. I also enjoy the outdoors; one of my favorite past times is hiking and taking walks. I love being out in nature to escape the world and really find time to reflect and connect with God. I love being in and taking pictures of all of God's beautiful creations. We are so blessed to live in this world Heavenly Father has created for our enjoyment.
Why I am a Mormon
I have chosen to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know without a doubt that it is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I was born and raised a member of the church just as many of my friends in our Mormon community, and my parents are very strong and faithful members. They have raised me to know the truths of the gospel; but this is not the main reason I have chosen to be a member. I am a member because being a member of this church is what makes me happy. Life can be very difficult, but knowing the teachings of Christ's gospel and having put them to practice, I know this is the only way to find true and lasting happiness. Being able to pray to a loving Heavenly Father who knows me personally and understands what I am going through is a great comfort. As I study the scriptures I feel closer to God. Through studying the Book of Mormon especially I feel hope and joy, despite what may be going on in my life. I have read the Book of Mormon and know it to be the word of God. It is through my personal study of that book that I have come to know who my Savior, Jesus Christ is. It is through Him we are able to find joy in trial and learn to appreciate the difficulties of life. I am grateful for the struggles and trials I have been given. They are difficult to overcome and may sometimes feel impossible, but it is only through rising above and overcoming those trials that I have come to know my Savior on a personal level. It is because the trials of life that my testimony is firm and unwavering. The experiences I have had is what has built me and made me the person I am today. There is true and lasting Hope and Happiness in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
How I live my faith
The best way I have found to live my faith is by example. Having been baptized a member of the church I have taken upon me a promise to be a disciple of Christ. This means to live as he lived and strive to follow his example, so I can be the type of person he would be proud to have carry his name. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes, but as long as we are putting forth our best efforts to do what is right and to treat others with love and kindness, this is all that is asked of us. Progression is what the church is all about, becoming better people today than we were yesterday. I attend my church meetings every Sunday, as well as attend institute classes during the week where we study and discuss the scriptures and teachings of prophets. This helps me to remember who I am and why I am here and helps me to be that continual example of Christ. Basically, the way I live my faith is by being a friend. I do my best to be a friend to everyone, especially those who may need cheering up. We want everyone to feel loved and accepted, so it is our responsibility as Christ’s disciples to help others feel comfortable around us. Everyone is welcome and everyone deserves the love of others as well as the love of God, our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ.
