Chat With a Mormon Online
Hi I'm Jared. This seems to be the spot where I talk about how awesome I am.....ok I am 21, and just to tell about me I am kinda nerdy. Not really in the smart way but more of a I don't like sports and like to read, write, draw and play video games kinda way. I did all my schooling via home study but I do have a diploma. Plans for my life? Um go to collage and get a education. lol I don't know "I have a big head and little arms and.....I dont know how well this plan was thought out" All I can do is rely on my Savior and do what He says. And that's where I'm at.
Ok so "Why am I a Mormon?" I've been asked this question before. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) purely because I know it is His church. Him being Jesus Christ the Savior and Redeemer of the world. I know that the Church is Christ's because I read the Book of Mormon and I prayed to know if it was true. I got my answer then. At the time I was about 15. And now EVERY time I read from the Book of Mormon I feel the same feelings peace and love. It is because of that feeling and the teachings found in the Book of Mormon that I believe this way. It is how I know that Jesus is the Christ. He is MY Savior and Redeemer He suffered for MY sins that I might have the chance of everlasting life. Every time I read from the Book of Mormon I feel the Spirit enlightening my mind and I learn more about Him who died and rose again on the third day. This is Why I'm a Mormon. This is why I gladly sacrifice all the many things that are necessary as a disciple of Jesus of Nazareth. I look forward to the day that I will meet my Lord in the flesh. I pray I will be ready for that day. I pray that I will have applied His sacrifice and grace into my life and be made clean from my many sins.
I'll tell you why I went on my mission. I went because I knew that the message was true. Try to think of it this way. If you had the cure for cancer wouldn't you want to share it with everyone. Wouldn't you sacrifice almost anything to help all the people out there that had cancer. And if you didn't share and people found out you would be the biggest jerk in the world. This is why we serve missions. Because we have the cure to not cancer but sin. We have the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Or in other words we know and have the authority to do everything you need to receive the grace and salvation offered by Christ. And all you need to do is ask God it its true.
Well I'll tell you why I do the limited genealogy that I do. Because its stinkin fun! I get to learn about my Great Great Grandfather and who he was what he did. Its all really cool. They aren't names on a page to me. These are people who had lives. The aspect of extending the blessings of the gospel and salvation to them is made all the more real because they are real people. We as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints believe just as the saints in the New Testament that we can help our ancestors receive salvation. But my favorite part is learning about them.
I try to become better every day. And follow the example of Christ. I also try to help others in any way that I can. Weather its by helping them move big heavy things, painting rooms in their house or sharing with them what I know of the Master. (But I think talking about Jesus is my favorite.)
