Hi I'm Ethan

About Me

I have an EPIC family, consisting of my dad (who is awesome), mom (who is fantastic), an nineteen year old brother (who is pretty sweet), and five year old twin sisters (who are kinda amazing). I am an Eagle Scout, an EMT-B, and Cellist. I'm also a dulcimer and guitar playing 11 year old Scout leader. I am a convert, meaning I found the church later in life (READ = not raised a member). As an added bonus, I am currently serving in the Idaho Boise Mission as a full time missionary!

Why I am a Mormon

As a convert I know the difference that the gospel can make in your life.

How I live my faith

I was a Boy Scout leader for our congregation's Scout Troop. And a Sunday School teacher before that. And I am currently serving a full time mission for the church in the great state of Idaho!

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Because all who have lived on the earth have not had the opportunity to be baptized by proper authority during life on earth, baptisms may be performed by proxy, meaning a living person may be baptized in behalf of a deceased person. Baptisms for the dead are performed by Church members in temples throughout the world. People have occasionally wondered if the mortal remains of the deceased are somehow disturbed in this process; they are not. The person acting as a proxy uses only the name of the deceased. To prevent duplication the Church keeps a record of the deceased persons who have been baptized. Some have misunderstood that when baptisms for the dead are performed the names of deceased persons are being added to the membership records of the Church. This is not the case. Show more Show less

As a temple ordinance worker for the Mesa Temple for the past 5 years, I have grown in appreciation for the temple and the ordinances that are preformed. I believe that those who have passed-on are given the opportunity to accept the work that is performed in their behalf as if they were here - physically. The initial ordinance of accepting Jesus Christ is baptism. The ordinance of baptism is performed as it was originally by John the Baptist for Jesus in the temple by emersion. The temple gives those that have passed-on the opportunity to accept the mission of Jesus Christ and all the ordinances that he performed. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I have come to know our Father in Heaven through private prayer and service. As I pray and receive answers through impressions and feelings, I am able to assist in His work. At other times, I have been comforted at the times when I needed it most by a very real presence. I feel His love as I serve others and I can feel His love for them. Show more Show less
