Chat With a Mormon Online
Hey, I'm Anna. I'm 16 years old and I couldn't be happier with life right now. I am the third child in a family of eight children (soon to be 10-we're having twins!) but only by twenty-seven minutes;) My identical twin sister is my very best friend and we do everything together. I feel like I live in a fairy tale because life seems so perfect and I feel so blessed! My very favorite thing to do is to be with my family who I love more than words can express. I am one of only six LDS members in my high school, but I feel blessed to live here in Pennsylvania because it pushes me to become better and represent Christ's name the best that I can. My life is very crazy and busy at times, but when I do have free time, I LOVE riding my horses, enjoying all of nature and God's creations, playing sports, singing, playing piano, running, reading my scriptures, watching Disney movies, and breathing fresh air. I love my ward and especially seminary every morning at 6:00 at my house with the other youth in my ward. Seminary strengthens me and gives me an incredible spiritual boost each day. I am determined, and I love having good, clean fun. I am Anna, and I am a Mormon.
I am a Mormon simply because I know this church is true without a doubt. I was born into an amazing Latter Day Saint family and my parents have taught me through their examples that the church is true. As I have grown, I have gained my own testimony of its truthfulness as I have read the scriptures and prayed to know if this church and the scriptures are true. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the gospel in my life, because the gospel truly IS my life. Everything in my life that I have been blessed with comes from my Heavenly Father and everything beautiful around me testifies that He lives and that He loves me with an unconditional, eternal love. I am so grateful for the Atonement in my life and for the prophets and leaders who help me stay on the right path and guide me to eternal happiness. I know that Joseph Smith really did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in the sacred grove on a beautiful spring day, and I know that he did restore the true gospel onto the earth today. I am a Mormon because I know this is the true church and I know that by following Christ's example, I will find eternal, lasting happiness.
At this time, in this big, ever-darkening world, it is easy to feel frightened and scared, lost and alone. Even I, with a large family of twelve, find myself with these feelings at times. However, knowing that I have a Heavenly King, the greatest and most powerful and most loving King of all, and knowing that I am His child helps me feel stronger and gives me strength to continue on. Furthermore, I have the knowledge that my Heavenly Father loves each us with a pure, unconditional, eternal love. Because He loves us, He has promised us that if we pray earnestly to Him and pour out our hearts through prayer, then He will always be there for us, He will always answer our prayers, and He will never leave us alone. I have seen this promise work miracles in my life. Prayer plays such a vital role in my life. It is a way of communicating to my Father and getting to know Him. It is a way of showing gratitude to Him for all of the many things He has given me. It is a way to feel comfort and peace when I need it or to ask questions and get answers, no matter how small or big they may be. Countless times in my life, I have prayed in faith and seen my prayers answered, whether it be a small insignificant matter or a life-changing decision. Prayer helps me feel of my Father's love for me and gives me strength when I need it the most. One of my favorite quotes is by President Gordon B. Hinckley, and it states, "If life gets too hard to stand, kneel." Kneeling in prayer and sincerely praying and talking to my Father is a strength and a lifeline to me. I have found that I can pray wherever I may be, whether it's at school or in the car or just at my house, but wherever I may be, He is there and He is really listening. I am so grateful for the amazing power of prayer and all that it does for me in my life.
How do I live my faith? I do my best to keep the commandments and follow Christ's example in everything that I do. I set high standards for myself and strive to follow them in all that I do. Another way that I live my faith is by trying to strengthen my family members and become strengthened by them as well. Wherever I go, I remember that I am representing Christ and do my best to represent His name well. I read my scriptures and pray daily to my Heavenly Father, who is always there for me and will always listen and answer my prayers. I attend church each Sunday and youth group with the amazing youth of my ward each Wednesday. During the school year, I attend seminary (kind of like a Bible study/religious class) every morning before school and I see so many rich blessings in my life because of it. Many people ask me why I do all of these things, and I reply that I have been given everything, and I am only trying to pay Him back by being the very best person I can and following Christ's example.
