I have lived with my parents for almost 18 years. After finishing high school, I left home to go to school and work. I love drawing and cooking. I love nature, especially the forest. I never thought it would be difficult to be alone, but I also did not think about giving up. Up to this point I have been working and going to school and so far everything has been working out. I know that even when I am alone and no one understands, God is near and He knows my problems. He knows how I feel and what worries me. “A person is not an attribute of character, but of choice.”
My parents were baptized when I was 5 years old. Thus, I grew up in the Church. Despite the fact that my parents believed in God, I never even thought about this until a certain moment. It would have seemed that I understood everything, but I couldn’t say that I was a spiritual person. Looking back I understand that people outside of the Church were often better and wiser than I was. Nothing special has every happened in my life: no angel appeared to me, I never was struck down with a serious illness, and everything with my parents was fine. Only with time did everything begin to change. I began to think, “Who am I? Why am I here?” I can say that these thoughts were not optimistic. It gave me a reason to look at my life seriously. I changed greatly thanks to the Church and an understanding of God’s commandments. I gained confidence in my abilities, but more and better than anything I began to understand that Satan will never teach people goodness, but the teaching of Jesus Christ brings light. Several years have already passed since this experience. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I believe in God and I know that forgiveness is available to everyone through Jesus.
In the branch I am the music leader for the children. The children and I sing and learn songs and hymns. It is wonderful to help the children believe in God, to teach them to commune with Him, and to counsel with Him. When you see how they grow and understand more and more, and trust God, your faith is strengthened. Children are especially close to God. Their faith is strong and God answers them.
