Hi, I'm Jared - People

About Me

Hi, I'm Jared. I've loved to learn all my life, and so, no surprise, I became a teacher! Although endorsed as a language arts teacher (I love the art of words and the power of writing throughout the ages), I also love astronomy, history, biology, anatomy, visual arts, and social arts and culture. My wife and I found each other via online dating (yes, it can work!), and have one beautiful child. For hobbies, I enjoy hiking, creative writing, analytical writing, designing solar systems, and designing "alien" societies. I also love video games, where I can experience virtual realities or simulations (which works well when you like to write sci fi or fantasy).

Hi, I'm Craig - People

Grandpa of 15, dad of five, and husband of one, I teach college, love baseball, fly-fishing, & Harry Potter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love stories. Narratives are one of the defining characteristics of being human. I teach college classes in creative writing, literature, mythology, and film -- all subjects centered on stories. Reading, telling, watching, and hearing stories are a large part of how we understand this world and our place in it. Whether fiction or fact, history or fantasy, stories are a basic human tool for exploring life -- our dreams, our fears, and our beliefs. Scriptural narratives, parables, and allegories not only teach us how life was and is but also how it can and should be. Journals and diaries relate stories that instruct, explain, define, and inspire us, enriching the soil of our family roots.

Hi, I'm Tim - People

I am a physician, but sometimes I think I should have been a sports broadcaster or a disc jockey. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am one of those people who could have chosen various careers, since much about life and the world intrigues me. Even though I decided on Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat), as a medical and surgical specialty, I continue to be a sports junkie, one who can scan the sports page of the newspaper for 5 minutes and effortlessly glean all pertinent facts. The same is true for popular music: without trying, just by listening, titles, artists, and genres of music accumulate in my mind and can be retrieved from memory even years later. Now, don't get me wrong: I am a knowledgeable physician. It's just that it requires more energy and effort to gather, remember and retrieve pertinent medical facts and concepts. What I enjoy most about my medical career is the opportunity to be a healer on many levels, by weaving probing questions, empathic listening, and adequate communication time, allowing patients' bodies, minds and hearts to heal simultaneously. Obviously, my faith in Jesus Christ heavily influences my views as a physician and as a person. In addition to my professional and personal interests, my main focus is my family. My wife and I have been happily married for 28+ years, and are the parents of 3 sons and a daughter, ranging from 16-26 years of age. A great joy in my life is to see my kids make wise and responsible choices. I have found that marriage and parenthood are the most rewarding and yet the most difficult experiences of my life, crucibles of sorts.

Hi, I'm Valerie Jean - People

Married to a private investigator. We have 3 children. I love being a wife, mom and business-owner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Elder Boyd K. Packer said, "The ultimate end of all activity in the Church is that a man and his wife and their children can be happy at home." I can say firsthand that I know what it's like to be a part of a happy family. In this regard, I am the luckiest wife and mother on the planet. Our children are teenagers, and yet they still open up to me about anything and everything. I treasure my husband and children more than I can say. I have numerous other blessings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have a strong desire to share my testimony of the gospel. I do struggle with weaknesses and various different trials, specifically health issues. But it helps me to remember the good moments outweigh the bad ones. Oh how they do! The gospel of Jesus Christ enables me to have this perspective, regardless of the trials my family and I are going through. I enjoy reading mostly for secular and spiritual learning, journal writing, photography, creative writing, going to the movies isn't movie popcorn the best?!, helping others, social networking on the internet, blogging, spending time with my friends, immediate and extended family and I've been known to play a game of spider solitaire or two. If I'm listening to Michael Buble, one might catch me dancing. I very much enjoy going to the temple. I have taken numerous college classes on different campuses and online. I absolutely love learning. My husband is a private investigator. He is good at what he does and more importantly, he enjoys his job. I do not work outside the home. A great deal of my time and energy is spent towards my family and taking care of our daughter who has special needs. She has over 15 doctors. My sons have some health care issues as well. But I am grateful that my children have doctors and medication to help them. The inconvenience of doctor's appointments is a small price to pay for necessary health care. Somehow, our children rise above their trials and keep on going. They each have accomplished good things and I am proud of them, especially for the good choices they make. I am so grateful to my husband, and for the love and patience he shows to me. He is also one of the funniest people I know. I love him dearly. I am excited for this opportunity to share my beliefs about Jesus Christ. I welcome comments on my blog page.

Hi, I'm Kathryn - People

I'm a Mormon. My beliefs define who I am and what I want to become.

About Me

Hi, I'm Michael - People

"I am called [a] Mormon ... I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God."

About Me

I am the oldest of four, and an uncle to the most adorable nephew and nieces in the world. I grew up in a small city in central California--small by California standards, anyway--and attended a university in but not OF Utah where I earned two degrees in physics, and now live in southern Nevada where I am an adjunct professor at a community college. I enjoy reading spy thriller novels, baking, spending time with friends, taking leisurely walks in the cool of evening, and keeping up with news and world events.

Hi, I'm Dave - People

I'm a language lover, a music maker, a multicultural food devourer, a teacher of my kids and grandkids. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love pulling people closer into my circle and expanding my circle to include them. I love the languages and cultures and the people of Central Asia, and I enjoy being a language administrator. Most of my co-workers are Muslim, and I love working with them as we create textbooks, multimedia materials and mobile apps for Turkic and Iranian languages. We also teach language and culture to students from academic, business, military and other governmental organizations, many of whom later travel or work in Afghanistan, Western China or various Eurasian countries. I enjoy creating music, vocal and instrumental. I also love roller coasters and stormy weather. I’ve been laid off twice. Despite trials and defeat, I have always felt a success as a parent, and as a result, I’ve felt successful in general. I love my wife. She is an organizer extraordinaire; her influence as a teacher of youth cannot be measured. We are empty nesters with six amazing adult kids, a daughter and five sons. We have a bunch of wonderful grandkids. My favorite age is the teenage years. I love having teenagers; it's when their hearts and minds kick in in full gear. Teenagerhood -- well prepared for -- is a joy. Real travel for me starts where English is not spoken and dollars are not used. I love eating international foods of all sorts and discussing them with my family. I enjoy talking to folks of all sorts; I love learning from people who aren't like me.

Hi, I'm Rob - People

I'm a husband and father. I converted to the church at 18. I am a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 30 years and I am a father of four now adult children. I am a college professor. I teach English as a Second Language. I am also a teacher trainer and textbook author. It took me a long time to get to where I am today. Raising my family was my most important priority. I worked and went to school so my wife could stay home and we could raise our kids together. That is partially why it took me so long to get through school and start my career. I was a professional musician for a few years while going to school, but gave it up because when and where I was playing wasn't a stable environment and I wasn't home enough to be with my family. Now playing jazz is a hobby and a stress release for me. While going through school, I was a musician, custodian, salesman, delivery driver, and a textbook specialist. I didn't actually start my teaching and writing career until I was 39 years old. Now I am very happy in my career and as it turns out, all my jobs gave me experience in my life that worked together to help me successfully write textbooks and share what I have learned through those life experiences. Although raising my family and getting an education were very challenging for me and an extreme struggle, I wouldn't do it any differently because of what I learned along the way.

Hi, I'm Mallory. - People

I'm a History Teacher. I'm a free-thinking woman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and will soon have my Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education- History. I love history because it shows us what our human family has completed and also because it can give us hope in what is yet to come. Another spectacular thing history does is bring us all together in an interconnected web because everyone has a story. Like most people my life is filled with great times and hard times. I say hard times not bad times because my faith provides me with the ability to understand that the tough times can be those where I learn and grow the most. I can become a better and stronger woman by holding my beliefs close to me as I weather unfortunate events in my life.
