About Me
I was born in the west to a Mormon pioneer family. My great grandparents crossed the plains to Utah. I grew up in a small branch that met in my grandmother's home. I met my husband in high school, but we didn't really get serious until I had gone to college for one year. He joined the church after dating a few months and we were married in the Idaho Falls temple. I have four wonderful children and three and 2/3 grandchildren. I went back to school when my youngest child was in school and got my degree as an interpreter for the deaf.

-
-
About Me
I grew up in Southern New Mexico, mostly in Lordsburg and Silver City. During high school, I played football, was in marching band, and was on the wrestling team. I attended college at NMSU, where I turned my attention to the hospitality industry and graduated with a Tourism Management degree. The hotel industry has taken me to live in different place-: Florida, Alabama, Missouri, and finally settling in Texas. My interests include Disneymania, Broadway musicals, and traveling. I am a Disney fanatic. I love Disney movies, visiting Disneyland or Disney World (almost yearly), and host Disney Trivia games in my home. It's a great family tradition, and I'm so excited to have a new generation of Disney fanatics. I love attending Broadway Musicals and have seen over 50 productions, mostly on tours around the country, and have seen some on Broadway, too. I was blessed to marry the love of my life ten years ago. We have two beautiful children, and a third on the way. It has been the biggest blessing of my life to be a husband and a father. My wife and I homeschool our children and love it! Our family has taken field trips together, seen some awesome sights, and visited amazing places like Washington D.C., Gettysburg Civil War site, Abraham Lincoln's birthplace, Mammoth Cave, Carlsbad Caverns, Nashville, Zion National Park, The Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, White Sands National Monument, and lots of others along the way. We cherish our time together on these trips.

About Me
I like to learn new things and I like to read. People say I am smart but I haven't really gone to college, I've taken a few classes, but I guess my learning comes from all the reading I do. I love solving puzzles, like sudoku or word and math problems. I love reading books that are filled with trivia, some I can remember and other things I can't but it is fun when one of those things I read months or years ago come flooding back when talking with someone about something. I have always wanted to learn sign language and have read several lign language dictionaries. About 11 years ago my family and I started attending a deaf branch, a small local congtregation, and I have improved my ability to communicate with the deaf. I have a great respect and love for the deaf and hard of hearing. When I was a kid I had a lot of problems with my hearing and I went to the doctors quite frequently. I often had ear infections and finally had tubes put in my ears and I had them for two years. At the time I didn't know anyone who had that done but now I guess it happens more often. My hearing is fine but I have wanted to learn sign language since then, and now I am learning more and more each week as I meet with the deaf and their families.

I'm an intellectual, granola mom, and miscarriage activist, living on the Last Frontier. I'm a Mormon.
-
-
About Me
I live in Alaska with my husband, three sons, and a slightly crazy dog. We lived for two years in a bush town with only 70 people. We could only order groceries once a month, and we learned to be self-sufficient and minimalist. Even though we now live in a bigger town, we still live simply because we love it. I homebirth, breastfeed, cloth diaper, buy local and organic food, grow a garden, make my own yogurt, almost never wear makeup, and assorted other 'granola mom' things. I am currently training to become a doula and childbirth educator, although I got my college degree in theater education. I am a knitter, professional seamstress, avid reader, enthusiastic debater, and aspiring author. I apparently have a bit of a reputation as a good cook I brought some cinnamon rolls to a game night once and people fought over them, but I have had a few epic culinary failures too. My vocabulary is too big for my own good and I also have a weird sense of humor. In my first few years of marriage I had several miscarriages, including three in the second trimester. For a long time I didn't know if I would ever be able to have a biological child and now that I have, I treasure my sons more than I think I otherwise would have. My miscarriage experiences have impacted my life in two very significant ways. First, I felt a real lack of support and awareness about miscarriage. Eventually this led to my becoming a founding member of The Amethyst Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women through miscarriage by providing miscarriage doulas for them, and also to educating the public about how to support us in our times of loss. The organization is only a few months old and the response has already been overwhelmingly positive. The second way my miscarriages have impacted me is that over those years I had several instances where I received very specific promptings--personal revelations--about what I should do or how I should respond to what was happening. I developed personal knowledge of the comfort and direction that the Holy Spirit can give, as well as an intense understanding of what it means to "let go and let God" direct my life.
