Hi, I'm Clairissa - People

I'm a Texas mother of 3, treating multiple sclerosis drug-free and helping my family navigate a healthy lifestyle. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

While pregnant with my third child, I lost sight in my left eye, followed by loss of feeling in the left side of my body. Soon after I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 29. From that moment I knew that my life had changed, though I wasn't content to believe that it was to be in a wheelchair or disabled. I got on my knees and prayed earnestly about my health. The peace that overcame me was such a gift. The fear had vanished. Doctors offered a myriad of pharmaceutical options to treat the MS, but I knew that my treatment plan was to be different. I chose to follow the teachings in the Doctrine and Covenants, section 89 and work on healing my body through diet and healthy lifestyle. Since committing to a plant-based diet and regular exercise, I am virtually symptom-free and my last MRI has shown drastic improvements in both my brain and spine. My 6 year old daughter has also benefited from this way of eating and has recovered from severe asthma and allergies. I blog about healthy living to show people that there is hope beyond a diagnosis. Our bodies, which are tremendous blessings from God, are designed to heal and want to be healthy. We just have to provide them with the correct tools to do so. I live by the adage, let food be thy medicine, and I have seen it work miracles on me.

Hi, I'm Paul - People

I'm a Swimmer. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am immobile, because I was born with Cerebral Palsy. I can still walk and swim, but I am a hemi-plegic, which means that one of my arms, and one of my legs is crippled. I like to smile a lot. It makes people happy. I take a bus to get around. I like to swim, run, watch good movies, and build quality relationships, that last. Building those relationships is easier when I can surround myself with the right kind of people. That's one reason my Church is so good, for me. Wherever I go in my Church, I am surrounded by people I would like to make my friends.

Hi, I'm Jason - People

I grew up in southern Illinois and I'm a Mormon from birth.

About Me

I guess your first question is how did I end up out west. Well it has a lot to do with Mormon church. Since I was small I was prepared to serve a full-time mission for the Lord. When I got old enough I filled out the necessary paperwork and submitted them to church headquarters. About two weeks later I received a mission call asking me to serve in Salt Lake City (believe it or not there not all Mormons in Salt Lake). After I served my mission I went to junior college in Rexburg, Idaho at was then called Rick's. It has since become a four year college called BYU-Idaho. I had family that I lived with for a while in Hamilton, MT and I since got my own apartment in Missoula, MT.

Hi, I'm Steven Jay Whited - People

I am a Counselor assisting individuals living with psychiatric and medical disabilites. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been so blessed as I have made right choices and I have a wonderfully loving relationship with my wife and have been blessed with 6 children--3 boys and 3 girls. My earliest memory is of wanting to somehow take away the pain, suffering and illness of others. I began a career in Social Work in 1989 and have continued to this day to try and help my fellow men and women to overcome their mental and physical challenges to achieve a better quality of life. I graduated from Brigham Young University in Social Work and from Utah State University with a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. I am active in my Church and I consider it a great privilege to be involved with the Boy Scouts, serve as a Sunday School President, serve as a Home Teacher and also be blessed to have some janitorial duties as well :).

Hi, I'm Camille - People

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married 9 years to my wonderful & supportive husband. I stay at home with our 3 kids; 8, 6 & 18 months; whom we adopted from foster care. I am active in the church and enjoy my calling in the nursery, watching kids from 18 mon-3 years during 2 hours of Sunday meetings. In Januray I decided to finally go back to school to become & esthetician & I'm loving it! I guess I've come a long way in the mormon religeion. Born and raised mormon, you'd think I'd have life all figured out. My teen rebellion got the best of me and I made poor dating choices and ended up married to a guy that sent me over the edge. I ran to Ohio, escaping the situation & nanny 4 young children. I enjoyed my time away from the drama filled life I had created, and was thrilled to make new friends and find my way back to the church through the singles ward. I had the marriage annulled, got my life on track, & returned back to my life and family at home. A short time later I reconnected with my now husband who had, himself, been off track from the Lord's standards. Together we vowed not only to stay together for this life, but to make a goal to be later sealed in the temple as a family and to raise our kids on the right path with high standards. It's been 7 1/2 wonderful years since we were sealed and our marriage and family can't be any better. We have truly been blessed in life and recognize that ALL of our blessings come from the Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ.

Hi, I'm Jared - People

About Me

Hi, I'm Jared. I've loved to learn all my life, and so, no surprise, I became a teacher! Although endorsed as a language arts teacher (I love the art of words and the power of writing throughout the ages), I also love astronomy, history, biology, anatomy, visual arts, and social arts and culture. My wife and I found each other via online dating (yes, it can work!), and have one beautiful child. For hobbies, I enjoy hiking, creative writing, analytical writing, designing solar systems, and designing "alien" societies. I also love video games, where I can experience virtual realities or simulations (which works well when you like to write sci fi or fantasy).

Hi, I'm Laura - People

I have 3 adopted sisters. I've climbed the Great Wall twice.I am a writer and a graduate student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

It's hard to describe who *exactly* I am. My entire life, I've always loved doing pretty much anything. I love to cook, I love to read, I love to learn other languages. (Though how fluent I am in any language other than English is another story.) In general, I guess, I just love to learn. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History and am now getting my Masters of Library Science in Archiving. I eventually want to get my PhD and work at either a museum or a library or an archives - anything that has to do with history and books. I also love to travel, teach and explore. My picture is from when I was climbing the Great Wall of China - the second time around. I love to write too. Stories, poetry, a little bit of everything. My family isn't the *typical* LDS family either. My family consists of me, my parents and my 3 sisters who were all adopted from China. Between all of this and my love of learning, I've had a chance to experience many things, all of which have solidified my testimony of the Gospel in one way or another.

Hi, I'm Toby - People

Industry standards manager, government transparency activist, community volunteer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My lovely wife and I have been married for 29 years. We have five children, 19 through 26. My mom also lives with us. I got my first job programming computers at age 16. Now, 36 years later, I've been with Microsoft for more than 18 years. A senior program manager in the Windows group, I represent the company in several industry standards organizations, hold six patents, and help other groups in the Windows division make good decisions regarding their standards strategies. It's exciting work, and enables me to use both my technical and diplomatic skills. My 7th grade social studies teacher instilled in me a great appreciation for what the Founding Fathers of the United States accomplished and the great principles embodied in our founding documents, the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Ever since then, I've been passionate about being actively involved in the community and in our government. I served in the Washington state legislature from 2002 through 2006, and then as a Fire Commissioner in King County Fire Protection District 41. I'm president of Washington Coalition for Open Government, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that educates citizens and public officials about the right of the people to access public records and meetings, and serve on the boards of several other local non-profit organizations. I try to make a positive difference in the community.

Hi, I'm Cami - People

I am a stay at home mom of 3. I love health, fitness, a good book, sewing, traveling and the beach. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of 3 adorable kids. I earned my degree in Exercise Science from BYU and although I worked full time as an exercise physiologist only a couple of years, I continue to enjoy the health and fitness industry. I have moved 7 times in the past 4 years, and have been able to meet life long friends and explore new cities along the way. I love being a stay at home mom with my hobby job as a fitness instructor. Although my husband's job keeps us moving from project to project, I enjoy living a normal life by taking my kids to the park, sewing, cooking, reading, and exploring the outdoors. As a family we love to travel, our favorite place to visit is the beach!
