I'm an urban school teacher. Building strong friendships is important to me. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After returning home from a full-time mission in South Africa, I realized I couldn't help everybody everywhere, but I could help somebody somewhere. Becoming a teacher was the way I felt like I could fulfill that personal mission. I love meeting new people and strengthening the friendships I already have. There are many things that I consider fun: hanging out with my family, eating great food, being a matchmaker and dancing!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 10 years old two young men (missionaries) came to our door and I knew right away that what they had to say was what I was missing in my life.

From that point, every good choice I've made has been because of my Church membership (choosing where I went to college, deciding to serve a mission, choosing my profession).

When one truly understands who they are as a child of God and that they have a purpose here in life, as I've learned through my membership, then anyone can be happy.

That's what the gospel of Jesus Christ has done for me; helped me to be happy because I have found God's truth.

How I live my faith

Attending church every Sunday possible allows me to remember the promises I made at baptism and the lessons I learn while attending strengthens me. Inviting my friends and family to come with me to church to learn more about my faith is something that's important to me. I know this is God's true church on the earth. I must share it with others. Praying daily to my Heavenly Father allows me to give thanks and ask for guidance in my life.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Live it. If you can commit to yourself and God to give all you have to discovering for yourself if the church is true through living the principles taught and asking God, in the name of Christ, to reveal the truth to you, I can give you my personal witness you will feel in your heart the comforting reassurance that you have found the truth. Before I was baptized, a missionary told me that I could read the Book of Mormon and find out for myself if it was true. I liked that idea. I've always been a person who wanted to know the truth for myself. After the missionary had suggested I read it, I decided to try. It was a big step of faith to pick up a book and read it without knowing for sure. Over time, I developed a testimony that the Book of Mormon is true.

The same goes for knowing if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true Church of Christ once again established on this earth. A simple prayer to your Heavenly Father can open so many doors of truth.

The real way that I know it is true is how it has helped my life. Without the Church, I'd be lost. I am grateful for it, and for the knowledge I have that it is true.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Definitely! In fact, it is hard for me to imagine the world without them. We live in difficult times with wars, economic uncertainty, and just issues and questions that are unique to our generation. Prophets are able to speak with God and relay critical guidance to us that help us to always know what God would have us do.

I believe God loved His children enough in the 'old' days to send His prophets to guide and teach them. He is unchanging, and loves us equally and continues to always have His prophets give us instructions that pertain to our generation.
